Lots of these shuttles that are being built aren't true nasa style. They are close, but not like the ones nasa makes
-
This loos fun, but a quick question: Are we allowed to launch the station after we capture the asteroid?
Yes. Thats fine
-
What bothers me is the how baron the system is. There are a few small asteroids hanging out around Kerbin, but otherwise, its desolate
-
Okay, maybe the name is a little misleading, but this thread is to discuss what is seriously unrealistic or realistic about the Kerbol system. There are plenty of things, so have fun picking apart everything wrong with Kerbol and its planets. Thanks!
Vote in the poll!

if that's what you meant then why did you also make the same mistake in the votes?
0.7t
what I meant by "that's what I meant" was that I just thought it was 20 tons, but then realized that it was 2

Flash, i'm sorry, but the screenshots required are required... If you could rebuild those ships or get the builders to send pics then I would be happy to, but there isn't any proof. People would start to get whiny about that.
-
dude, an SSTO doesnt have to be a spaceplane. I made a lightest SSTO thread, and people make them with the bare minimum... you dont need much
-
Surface report mission, rover parts not unlocked yet, no minimap, 4x time warp 2 mission elapsed hours....
This aspect of EVA does not need fixing. if you're walking around as an astronaut, you don't just get to have hours go by in seconds. Wait to do things like that until you have unlocked rovers....

My greatest issue with EVA is the Kerbals' tendency to fly off the ladder once they exit the pod.Heard That...

How about a "read the forums" poll option?

There are a lot of things you can do with stock. Need fairings? Make me with stock! Need a more powerful, efficient engine? Well then, get creative with radial engines! This is a thread to share your most amazing stock subassemballies and vessels that are entirely stock. So, what have you done?
-
Cool, agifem! I'm glad you like it.
-
Oh, sorry. Missed that. Thanks. I'll rank yah!
-
With Kerbal Engineering and combining three other screenshots into one, here is all the data required on my SSTO probe from KSP 0.90 Beta
Launch Weight
Orbit weight
Orbital stats, way over 70,000 meters.
Cost, could be reduced by using only one OxStat or none.
I can't see launch weight... Is it the 0.34?
-
yea maybe it was 0.8t, I don't remember because I quickly did it in 5 minutes. Also why I had two tiny tanks, just in case I don't get the perfect launch first time around.
The secret is that dv counter is not entirely accurate when you do things like physics wrap, and fire engines at extremely low thrust just to turn because you have no torque.
Contrary to poplar belief, the atmosphere ends at 69,000m not 70,000.
just checked the wiki. You're right. Sorry cheng! You will be ranked at 0.8tons

Not quite as light as Cheng's , but still pretty light. Has a lot more DV, is completely stock, doesn't clip anything and it's periapsis is over 70K. And to make it in any way useful I added some science instruments on the sides.Cant see the mass. Please edit the post to show it
-
if that's what you meant then why did you also make the same mistake in the votes?
0.7t
cheng, your orbit is not stable... I can't rank you with that
-
I made a mistake on a poll, and want to delete it or atleast edit it
-
below 20 tones is incredibly easy, try 2 tones instead.
Oops... That's what I meant...
-
Who can make the lightest stock SSTO? That's what this challenge is for.
The rules are very very simple. Make the lightest SSTO purely with stock parts, no using debug menu, and orbit must be stable (Pe > 70km)
This isn't a spaceplanes competition! This is an SSTO competition!
3 required screenshots:
Ship with weight in tons visible
Map view, in orbit
In orbit, not map view
Kudos if you get below 2 tons. That is the tough number to get below.
Thanks, and let's see those SSTOs!
RANKINGS:
Foxster: 0.674 tons
chengong: 0.8 tons
gm573: 0.803 tons
Cat Biscuits: 0.826 tons
SRV Ron: 1.33 tons
cantab: 1.395 tons
Red Iron Crown: 1.992 tons
Captain Vlad: 5.2
Captain Sierra: 6.72 tons

Yea, I'd like to see his 'attempt' at this as well. The rules are so 'ambiguous' either the door is either wide open or you better be damned good at VTOL's.
okay. I can't at the moment, due to conflicting plans, but on Monday I will share

Sorry guys. I revised. Capsule must me 3000m+ in altitude on the mountain.
-
What Really Happens when you tap the "recover vessel" button? Hundreds of Kerbals go to work designing and calculating to actually recover the brave Kerbonauts that have returned from their great journey. In this challenge, you will design a ship of any kind that will actually recover the vessel. Here come the hard part. You will be recovering a vessel from the peaks of the mountain range nearest to the KSC. When you take off a plane, right behind you is a range of mountains. This is the range in which the challenge will be conducted from.
The rankings of this challenge are simply based on cost of aircraft.
Rules:
- NO MODS!! The stock parts are enough
- Recover a bare 3 man capsule from a part of the mountain! Cheats can be used to get it there
- Don't use the debug menu!
- There will be separate rankings for those who don't use the Advanced Grabbing Unit
- There will be extra special rankings for those who use rockets. That---is skill
- Must safely return all kerbals and capsule. This is the space programs money and reputation on the line!
The capsule must be placed in on this mountain 3000+ meters. The placement is irrelevant to the biome!
Required Screenshots:
Ship in hangar. Must clearly show the cost of the ship
Ship on runway, ready for launch
Ship in mid flight, approaching the capsule
Ship 1km from the capsule
Ship landed and connected to capsule
Ship flying back
Ship landed safely back at the KSC with capsule
Your entry will not be ranked if it lacks even 1 of these screenshots.
Thank you for participating and I look forward to seeing all of your entries!

Wrong place to put this thread

I fear you might be on to something...
Dres at the very least, should be completely remade to be a Ceres analogue including random asteroids like around Kerbin. Oh and Eeloo needs at least one moon.
Ceres though is essentially just a big asteroid, and too many asteroids could cause issues, but I am all for an asteroid belt.
