I have a list of 23 colleges. Help me make it a list of 10 colleges!
Denks replied to Dman979's topic in The Lounge
I have visited Virginia Tech and Embry-Riddle. Virginia Tech has a pretty big (and pretty nice) campus. Virginia Tech has a highly competitive Engineering Program. (Someone that interned with me at NASA, had a 3.95 GPA and over a 1300 SAT score didn't get into the Engineering Program.) Other than that, I can't really say anything, other than that it gets super cold in the winter. Embry-Riddle is, as you probably know, a much smaller school. It's pretty close to Daytona Beach, and is right next to the speedway (If you like NASCAR). They have a TON of hands on projects you can participate in and I know that a lot of their engineering graduates find good jobs easily. Really, though, where you get your undergraduate from doesn't matter too much. Engineers that I have met at NASA have education ranging from Community College and the old Apprentice program to MIT. -
Is there a way to obtain older versions of KSP?
Denks replied to panzer1b's topic in KSP1 Discussion
On steam you can go back to "Previous Stable Version." I am not sure what version it is. You go to your library, right click on KSP, select properties then go to betas. The Previous Stable Version is in a drop down tab. Again, I am not sure what version it is. -
How do people fly unmanned drones to shoot at?
Denks replied to panzer1b's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
It appears that in the video something was mounted on top of the craft with a radial decoupler. I'm not sure if this would work, but you could try putting something on top of a larger craft and activating its engines and decoupling it. It probably wouldn't fly right though (it would have to have SAS and probably a remote guidance unit). EDIT: Oops, I skipped the beginning of the video. Nevermind. -
Do you think Sandbox Mode can still be rewarding?
Denks replied to Draconiator's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I use sandbox to test things or build things I can't/don't want to build on my career mode. -
"The sky appears to be mostly below us now"
-
I play both career and sandbox modes. I like building stuff on a whim in sandbox, but I find career more enjoyable and rewarding in general.
-
I had been just messing around with stuff in sandbox mode, which was my favorite thing to do. A few days ago I decided to start a career mode, and it is so much more enjoyable and rewarding.

What have you learned to do without an autopilot?
Denks replied to Starhawk's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I could probably learn to do everything fairly quickly, I'm just not patient enough for all of that. -
I tend to only be able to play for 30-40 before it crashes on me. I just get off when it crashes. I would probably play for much longer if it didn't crash.

Commercial Space Flight focus is going up. A lot of aerospace is also planes though, and we always need planes. For government jobs it depends on who is in charge.

The coolest thing that I have is a 20 year anniversary Apollo 11 poster. I also have some mission coins from when I visited KSC. I have a ton of posters. Mostly of the Shuttles but also one of Saturn V. I also have some mission patches. My dad has a ton of stuff. A lot of it is from the early years of Orion, when he was a Deputy Project Manager. Though its kinda unrelated, I was at the launch of the final Space Shuttle.

Station Orientation

Yes, the up will always stay the same. -
NASA Langley Research Center, hehe sorry about that. A great website to use for finding colleges: https://bigfuture.collegeboard.org/ Use the College Search tool, you can look for colleges using all types of criteria. I would also look into Mechanical Engineering programs because it is my understanding that many Mechanical Engineers work in aerospace. And on the College Search tool, you get 5 times as many results.
-
I know that my dad has people that work under him at NASA that went to Embry-Riddle. I also know that LaRC likes Embry-Riddle and they try to recruit from there. I have been looking there myself, but its so far away from my home in VA. The only two colleges that I can find in VA with Aerospace Engineering degrees are UVA and VT.

If you pull the lever you aren't killing anyone, you're saving three people.

When I started playing, the community was great. I ended up quitting because of the way the community changed.

Zoo Tycoon and Roller Coaster Tycoon are the best. I spent a ton of time on those games.

What was the First thing you did when you got KSP?
Denks replied to michaelsteele3's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I killed like 4 Kermans at once in a rocket. Then I had to restart in a new one because one of them was Jeb. -
You are missing "Now I know my ABCs, next time won't you sing with me."
-
I terminate it from the tracking station, or let it fall back.
-
I mourned Jeb's death, I don't care as much about the others though.
-
I use it for manned missions, some unmanned missions, and I test the system before putting Kerbals in craft.
-
I believe that I read somewhere that the world's fastest computer can do more calculations in an hour than the entire earth's population could if they typed functions into a calculator for the rest of their lives, 24 hours a day.
-
It's no contest. Jeb.
-
My Jeb is dead. I was attempting to built a replica of the space shuttle and when I detached the boosters, it went into a wild spin and then slammed into the ground. I didn't think anyone was in it because I had a remote guidance unit, so I clicked space center instead of revert flight. The only one who was in it whose name I remember is Jeb. Now I always click revert flight after a failed launch.
