  1. Very interesting, thanks. How bad is this actually?
  2. Very cool and informative! Similar to previous studies, but at least this one is backed with real numbers and they didn't just put everything on top of a single SLS hoping that TWR > 1.
  3. WOW, thank you so much for this! It's really great to have such materials on this forum, and on the whole Internet in general. I guess this is how a Mariner or Voyager flyby would have been if we had internet back in the days!
  4. :-( Guess the wait is a bit longer than a month then...
  5. That's awesome, man! I'd love to see an updated plot with New Horizons' current trajectory, but I'm really not sure whether I could be of any help in making such a thing. Please keep us up to date here if you find any new information! I'd be very interested in seeing the final result. Thanks a lot, really.
  6. That makes sense, thank you.
  7. Cool idea, thanks for the post! Hoping this will get updated with new missions and photos
  8. That's a good question. I'm not really sure I can help you with it though.
  9. New image of Pluto should be posted today!
  10. No worries. Thanks for the thread, I had completely missed the news.
  11. I don't think neither LRO nor Opportunity will be dismissed. This is exactly what happened last year, but Congress urged to save them. Sure, Americans need to advocate a bit, but I'm pretty confident those two missions will keep going.
  12. It's actually Iran's 5th satellite, after Sinah-1, Omid, Rasad-1 and Navid. However, it's the 4th successful launch of an orbital Iranian rocket (Sinah-1 reached space on a Russian rocket).
  13. It's definitely not unknown, but it's also definitely not the most popular sport worlwide. But I guess we are veering off topic, so let's get back on track.
  14. No problem, I actually meant to type Delta II, not Atlas II Either way, thanks!
  15. Yes, nothing too spectacular (it vanished through the clouds something like 10 seconds after liftoff ) but my first Atlas II launch, so for me it was kinda special. I love its "vintage" look.
  16. T-10 minutes and counting. SMAP & NASA are GO, weather is still RED due to high winds, but new data could clear the Delta II rocket for liftoff. New launch time is now 14:22 UTC, 9:22 am EST. - - - Updated - - - Winds are now green, control team is GO for launch at 9:22! - - - Updated - - - Liftoff!! Mach 1.
  17. This is cool. New photos of Philae's dramatic descent and quadruple landing.
  18. I'm confident we will soon (aka in the next century) see the first asteroid mining expeditions take place. After all, some asteroids are easier to reach than our own Moon.
  19. A fascinating comparison between Ceres and Umbriel (one of Uranus' moons). In case you're wondering, that white spot on Umbriel is an ice deposit located in what is thought to be an impact crater.
  20. Cool comparison of Ceres and Vesta from approx. the same distance. Note: both of the images have been enlarged 4x.
