I'm in orbit of Kerbin, I want to go to Mun. I've done that a million times, but today I thought I'd try to the new maneuver tool. When I go to create a transfer using the tool, it sets a maneuver for six days from now... I know there is a good opportunity to transfer to Mun in every orbit. So why the delay? What am I doing wrong? I can't find anything to modify in the app. The only option seems to be "Create." I did have Steam verify all my files, I am running the current version.

I agree. I often refer to it as the "isolated battery." I heard that term in the HBO miniseries "From the Earth to the Moon." I usually select the battery that come stock in the manned pod as my "isolated battery." This way if you run out of juice, you have a protected emergency supply to do something as simple as change your orientation just enough to put a fixed panel back into the sunlight. - - - Updated - - - THAT was HUGELY helpful! I naively assumed you wanted the sepatrons aimed inward at the core to give them something to push against. But alas, they too often blow my main tank to bits! The light bulb just came on that if they ALL are canted 45 degrees they will push away evenly and not hit each other.
