  1. You misunderstand. I know how to attach and detach parts with the Inventory System. My question is, how do I attach a part to my kerbal's back to hike around with it, à la KAS in 0.90

    Open your Kerbals inventory, hold G and click and drag the part into it k_smiley.gif

    We're going in circles here.

    My original question:

    How do I carry items with the new version of KAS? I keep losing my items to space trying to juggle them as they float around :P

    (not store in inventory, but attach bigger parts to kerbals like before)

    Doesn't anyone remember how the old grab part functionality worked before KIS?

    KospY, if this functionality has been removed intentionally, can we at least get some kind of tether so that we can RCS around with parts? Thanks :)

  2. Like Pretender6 said, your Kerbal must be an engineer, and you need to have a Wrench or Electric Screwdriver in their inventory and equipped. Also, you gotta hold X to go into attach mode.

  3. Hmm... I thought I disabled the SM interface when you were in IVA mode... anyway, that is a known issue, as there is no place for the kerbals to go internally when I'm performing the transfer. I'm not sure I can disable the IVA button on the portraits, but I will look into that.

    I accessed the ship manifest from IVA via blizzy's toolbar. While a transfer is in process, it's also possible to IVA using the 'C' key, which will remove your controls. So I don't know if there's a way to exit IVA when you initiate a transfer, but certainly all IVA requests should be blocked during transfer to eliminate the bug.

  4. TST already has functionality for the hard drives, but for the space telescope (only module I've played with so far) I have to use ship manifest and it's quite a laborious job. :)

    I'm using the latest version of your mod and admit it happens less frequently than before but still happens. I'll try to get as much info as I can for you and update.

    So, I was relying on AVC to keep my mods up to date and for some reason it thinks 27.2 is the latest one? Odd. I'll let you know how I get on with 1.0.4 thanks. :)

  5. Yeah, but I tried to grab an escape tower with it and the only thing I've accomplished was to crash into it and push it away. So I was wondering which was the procedure to do it with KAS since, IIRC, KAS winches/hooks or something (besides the pipes) do work as a dock of sorts

    Still getting used to the Squad claw myself, but I think you need to lightly touch the grabable target, there shouldn't be enough force to crash into it and push it away. As far as my understanding goes, I was initially wrong in thinking the claw would impale the target like the KAS grappling hook does. It's a lot more delicate.

    Is there any other Mod, that offers the possibility to add Struts in EVA? Like after docking 2 Vessels in Space or something like that. =)
    Not in EVA, but there is a strut mod that allows automatic struts when docking... I forget what it's called, though, and don't know if it's working in 1.x.
    Quantum Srruts maybe? Although I recall that you could attach them during EVA via KAS. I think anyhow.
    If robotics rework has something like that i think. Not in eva though.
    I think it was Infernal Robotics that had them, actually, the autostruts. You'd put the start/end points, and they'd auto-strut things when you docked.

    The mod you guys are thinking of was the CIT Autostrutter. Unfortunately it's not longer in development.

    I added a last minute new part : harpoon.

    - Act like a grappling hook with a more compact design.

    - Winches and nodes attachable.

    - Can be used as landing legs for high speed / slope landing on small ships.

    - Rosetta like missions purposed and anything else you can imagine ;)

    Orbital Drop Pod feasible with this harpoon? I was using grappling hooks before but at 100m/s+ speeds, they tended to break or bounce.

  7. Well, with the release of KSP 1.0, I want to take the opportunity to do some change for KAS.

    As already said, current storage system will be removed and KIS will be used instead, so containers and mount will be deleted.

    Winn75 is also working on a new design for the winches, connector and port.

    Pipe and connector port will be merged and there will be only two winches (horizontal and vertical/radial).

    I recommend to wait KAS v0.5 before starting a new game. However, for people already using KAS in their game for a while, I will release an extra package containing the old parts for compatibility.

    Also, a small note : old KAS containers will be automaticlly converted to KIS container (KAS container content will be transfered in KIS container content on vessel load).

    Why not jut merge the 2 mods? I can't play without both of these!
