[KSP 1.12.1+] Galileo's Planet Pack [v1.6.6] [23 Sept 2021]
MaxL_1023 replied to Galileo's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Wouldn't Grannus be at least as bright as the full moon given its mass and location? Something with 45% of the Sun's mass is no proxima centauri.- 7,371 replies

[KSP 1.12.1+] Galileo's Planet Pack [v1.6.6] [23 Sept 2021]
MaxL_1023 replied to Galileo's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
I am just wondering - would it make sense to add a few minor tweaks to the tech tree to go along with rescaled systems? It would make sense to put 2.5m parts a little earlier, along with some basic adapters. Getting to orbit in 10.6257x with a 1.25m stack gets a little bit sketchy, especially early-ish in the game. Even with SMURFF on full, the mass/cross section relation makes the rockets impractically tall.- 7,371 replies

[KSP 1.12.1+] Galileo's Planet Pack [v1.6.6] [23 Sept 2021]
MaxL_1023 replied to Galileo's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Any sufficiently massive body (basically the clear orbit threshold) can and likely will have Trojan objects. Larger, more distant planets just often have more of them. Tellumo is easily large enough - in fact I don't think most of the belt would even be stable unless it was in some sort of resonance with Tellumo, especially with Gael being a large body in its own right. We have already found one Earth Trojan - 2010TK7- 7,371 replies

[KSP 1.12.1+] Galileo's Planet Pack [v1.6.6] [23 Sept 2021]
MaxL_1023 replied to Galileo's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
I also find it odd that a belt exists between Gael and Tellumo, but neither planet has any trojan asteroids. The game could also be reflecting the observability bias - larger asteroids are much easier to see. Up to a point, this over-rides the actual size distribution.- 7,371 replies

MaxL_1023 replied to Galileo's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
I wouldn't mind more small asteroids, as long as the class A and B asteroids are large enough to make them worth capturing. Why would you drag a 3 ton asteroid halfway across the solar system, only to mine it dry for 1% of the transfer cost?- 7,371 replies

[KSP 1.12.1+] Galileo's Planet Pack [v1.6.6] [23 Sept 2021]
MaxL_1023 replied to Galileo's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
There might be some researchbodies related configuration changes still in place - I don't think deleting the mod would undo anything it changes elsewhere. Have you tried re-installing GPP 1.2.2? Your saves will be fine - they are stored in a different location. Also, holy crap - it takes more delta-V to reach a slightly inclined, 70,000km x 50,000 km Gael orbit and return than it takes to get into orbit of Iota and back! Damn you Oberth effect! At least the rescue contract didn't involve an orbit inside the atmosphere!- 7,371 replies

You could synchronize on SOI transition - where the Mun is relative to Kerbin does not mean much when you are in the Mun's SOI. If the original velocity and positions are conserved relative to the parent body, there should not be as big of an issue. Solar orbits might take some work, but it is possible.

[KSP 1.12.1+] Galileo's Planet Pack [v1.6.6] [23 Sept 2021]
MaxL_1023 replied to Galileo's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
I just had that same issue - a 3x1 solar panel (from the 90 science node "electrics" I believe) was giving me 25.4 ec/s at Gael. I think it must be something to do with the .dll - I only had the issue when I updated to GPP 1.2.2 and installed it. Also, I somehow got captured into a stable orbit by Iota - my probe had done a satellite contract at about halfway out, so I ended up approaching from a very slightly smaller orbit (think a docking style phasing orbit) as I missed the first encounter (no flight planning yet in 10.6257x). Is this supposed to be possible, or is it just a patched conics issue?- 7,371 replies

It's the jet from mk 2 extended. On a lighter note, Jeb returned from the first suborbital flight in 10.6257x. He planted a flag... Which exploded.- 7,371 replies

[KSP 1.12.1+] Galileo's Planet Pack [v1.6.6] [23 Sept 2021]
MaxL_1023 replied to Galileo's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
I can't get fast enough using Scramjets to make orbit possible using OMS-type engines - I should be able to hit at least 5 km/s but 3.5 is about as fast as I can get before air drag and heating becomes a big issue. I wanted to do a speedrun on a gradual rise from 40 to 60km, topping out at 7 km/s and 70-80km if possible. AFAIK a scramjet should work almost to the Karman line, as the velocity of flight offsets the low air density.- 7,371 replies

Is there a config for 10.6857x? Also, does anyone know how to get the intakeair resource to stay available above ~48 km? My scramjet ran out of air when the intakes were still getting more than enough to run it at full power.- 7,371 replies

Your talking about a planet where fully functional rocket engines can literally be round lying on the side of the road - I doubt normal price ratios apply.

[KSP 1.12.1+] Galileo's Planet Pack [v1.6.6] [23 Sept 2021]
MaxL_1023 replied to Galileo's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
What would I need to change here to make the asteroids about 100 times larger? The size parameters do not seem to match up to their mass directly. Asteroid { name = GalileanBelt interval = 15 probability = 15 minUntrackedLifetime = 99 maxUntrackedLifetime = 99 spawnGroupMinLimit = 45 spawnGroupMaxLimit = 60 Locations { Around { Body { body = Ciro probability = 25 reached = False semiMajorAxis { minValue = 14984359719 maxValue = 21375000000 } eccentricity { minValue = 0 maxValue = 0.4 } inclination { minValue = 0 maxValue = 6 } longitudeOfAscendingNode { minValue = 0 maxValue = 360 } argumentOfPeriapsis { minValue = 0 maxValue = 360 } meanAnomalyAtEpoch { minValue = 0 maxValue = 360 } } } } } Size { key = 0 0 key = 0.3 0.45 key = 0.7 0.55 key = 1 1 } }- 7,371 replies

[KSP 1.12.1+] Galileo's Planet Pack [v1.6.6] [23 Sept 2021]
MaxL_1023 replied to Galileo's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
That's fair - I have no objection to creative license. I am just worried that when and if KSP ever moves to a gravitational model which is not based on patched conics (think the Principia mod) the GPP system will be unstable and fail to load. Also, is Grannus supposed to be a deep red? It seems a lot darker than a color temperature of 3400K (M2) would suggest. Maybe my configs were not properly changed when I updated GPP - I am not sure.- 7,371 replies

You can skip most of the atmosphere by landing on higher terrain - the scale height is low. I would also recommend planes over rockets, as jet engines work in Tellumo's atmosphere.- 7,371 replies

If Grannus is that massive, would Leto and Hox have stable orbits? Usually for comparable-mass binary systems the ratio of semi-major axes needs to be greater than 3 to 1 on either side, AFAIK. Also, wouldn't all the Gas Giants and Leto/Hox be in resonances with Grannus?- 7,371 replies
