  1. Hello everyone! I came here because I wanted to spread the word about this game, please check it out if you like scientifically accurate space games.

The game is being funded on kickstarter and there isn't much time left, please contribute if you can, thanks!

  2. So I recently got back into KSP after I noticed the recent update. After flying missions to and from both the mun and minmus I noticed this crazy terrain glitch that keeps happening. Random sections of every planet or moon will start lifting off into the sky leaving a square hole in their place. If you attempt to land or jump in these holes your craft/kerbal will instantly explode. I noticed the same thing was happening to Scott Manley in a video (Around 11:10)

Two pictures of my own that I took while in game:

I don't have any mods other than scatterer, and I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem as well, any help would be appreciated.

If they are done as badly and unituitively as the stock failure fairings then Id say heck no. However if done like the infinitely superior proc fairing mod and proc parts mod then yes.

    Whats wrong with stock fairings?

Edit: Nvm I saw your other post.

Oh come on.  Almost everything in the game was a mod at one point or another.  For crying out loud, docking used to be only available through mods.  Should Squad have not added that?  ISRU? Comms?

And how do you know it's not worth paying for?  All we have is a brief announcement, not even a price yet.  What if it were $1?  Would it be worth paying for then? $5? $10?  We don't know, because...the DLC isn't out yet and this is all just wild speculation.

Personally, I wish Squad would shut up and take my money.

Apparently, after a bit of searching, it's this one:

Although the ambiguous title doesn't help.

As for the topic: why in the heck would I spend $20 for DLC when I can find thousands of perfectly good mods that do the same thing?

Thanks, although for me for some reason if I screw with KSP's files the game will stop working for a few weeks then magically opens up when I'm doing something else. Meaning that I cant use mods on the computer I have. Pretty weird, so for me new stock content is awesome (Despite the price which I really don't mind too much)

I have never done this, for the record.

No, I will not automatically pay for an expansion just because I enjoyed the original game, thank you very much. And I most certainly will not ignore issues of quality in said expansion should I buy it, if they exist. Much as your rant has some merit on the simple fact that "devs gotta eat" (I know this all too well like many others) it fails when you stoop to telling people how to spend their entertainment money.

The way I think about it is that the developers of KSP have been working for a long time on making this game fun for the players, there are problems here and there but for the most part I think the devs work as hard as they can to fix them. So in this case its the first DLC they have ever announced, it seems to have a neat concept and the money just goes towards the continued development of the game we all love. Frankly I like the idea, but I could understand why people could be cautious about paid content.

I'm playing on Linux and have found that I can no longer launch the game from Steam, but launching from the command line works fine for some reason.  Have you tried launching it directly instead of through Steam?

Yea, It didn't seem to have any effect sadly. Idk what on earth happened, it was fully functional then boom gone.

    If it is Steam,

Then copy the save folder contents other than the scenario and training folder to another folder,

Then copy the mods to another folder as well.

Then delete everything within the Kerbal Space Program folder.

Then change it from prerelease to 'opt out of all beta programs' in the kerbal space program steam properties.

Then it should download the latest version without the risk of leaving something from a previous install that could cause issues

Then see if the game runs without mods

Then see if the game runs with mod

    Hope that helps

No dice, still having the same problem but thanks for trying.

  8. I've been playing on the 1.2 beta recently, but now that the update is fully out I find that the game will no longer open. When I press play game the curser pops up but thats it, all I see is my desktop, I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling multiple times and I've also reset my computer, nothing seems to work. I have a Lenovo laptop with Windows 8.1, If anyone knows how to fix this please tell me because I would really like to play this game more.

Also I'm using full stock ksp

You say "future technologies" as if KSP was supposed to be historically accurate. It shouldn't be, but it seems like the devs couldn't make up their minds and that's why the tree is a mess now.

It also depends on how you look at it. Not all space companies start with a sounding rocket, or a Mk1 capsule. Some go directly for SSTOs, like that british company working on Skylon.

But there's no point in discussing all this as career will never change, so let's just sit and watch devs add more adobe blocks of different colours. AFAIK, career mode is considered "good enough", so who cares?
