  1. The tutorials actually do a really good job of explaining the basics, and even some of the advanced stuff. I recommend going through them at least once. They don't hold your hand that much, more like give you tips and guidance on successful building, launching, flying, and keeping your nose towards space. As for giving yourself objectives, just try one step at a time. Launch a rocket and land safely, then aim for a suborbital flight and landing, then orbit and landing... Then you are halfway to everywhere. Hit Minmus first, it's easier to land on than Mun, unless you like a challenge.
  2. Started planning a mission to Duna. First time out of the Kerbin area. Been to Mun and Minun so far, so I'm hoping this goes nicely. Playing in Career mode as well, for extra Fun. Edit: save corruption Kraken has hit.
  3. At least you can fix your staging while in flight. Just use the normal + / - buttons by the staging windows and rearrange everything.
  4. For me, buying KSP on console was a no brainer. The only laptop/desktop I have access to can barely run Minecraft, let alone something like KSP. My gaming computer went out years ago, and I don't have the money to fix it. Got the PS4 for Christmas 2 years ago, so that's my main gaming rig. 40$ for a buggy but fun game, that has issues but is still very much playable, versus 500-1200$ for a good gaming computer, PLUS the cost of games. I don't have the cash to drop on a computer. So I'll settle for an "inferior" system, that has access to games the pc doesn't, and still enjoy myself. I like gaming on pc for mods and random games found on steam, and I like consoles for the other games pc doesn't get, or that have larger communities on consoles. And besides, KSP on console isn't really that bad. Yes, it runs rough, yes there are bugs, but it's still fun. People forget that not everyone can afford a gaming pc, while consoles are more affordable.
  5. Encountered the save corruption bug on PS4 the other day. Bummer. Started new career, have made almost as much progress in 6 hours as I did in 20. Landed on Minum last night for the first time. Much easier than the Mun. Still tipped over when landing, because I couldn't control my ship enough. Landed sideways, used the last bit of fuel in the second to last stage to right myself, then popped off that stage and landed ok with the actual lander. Had to make a few atmospheric braking passes, almost burnt up in the atmosphere, but landed safely with 400 science. Planning on going back with more fuel and gear and getting as much science as I can from Minum and Mun later.
  6. Well as best I can do is a giant leap around Mun, no orbit. I'm a few seconds burn shy of a stable orbit. Rescue team is currently in orbit around the Mun, ready for the attempts tomorrow. I might have to make a trip to Minun for science and get docking ports.
  7. Woo! First successful Mun landing complete! Last night I blew up a few dozen times, and finally landed sideways with no engine. Today, I blew up once, landed sideways once, shattered the struts twice, and finally... Landed upright, with everything intact. Now I've got to figure out how to get back to Kerbin on half a tank of fuel, that barely gets me into orbit around Mun.
  8. Playing on PS4, been getting used to things and learning the ropes. Decided I'd learn better in Career mode, so I've been really having to learnhow to make things work with limited funds and parts. I'm currently in orbit around the Mun for the first time, in a ship I'm sure would make the trip to and from Minun. I just ended up with an intercept on the Mun, and figured I'd go for broke. Going to review landing procedure in the tutorial, then go for my first Mun landing (outside the tutorial). I would have shot for Minun, but I'm not sure how to line myself up with it to get a nice intercept. That will be my next mission. Anyone have tips?
  9. Oh yeah, after I'm in orbit it's all much easier. Still not proficient at getting into a stable orbit, I think maybe 1/5 attempts actually end up with a decent orbit. I either go too high and sharp, or too low and wide, or just screw up the orbital maneuver or launch itself. Also having issues actually making it back to the ground on Kerbin after the Mun flyby. Probably could practice on Sandbox mode, but I'm having more fun trying to make things work in Career Thanks for the info, Pecan!
  10. I played KSP on pc (just the demo) a while ago, and when it went to consoles I bought it day 1. I've spent the last week building, rebuilding, looking up information, trawling forums for tips, and avoiding YouTube walkthroughs like the Black Death. I've killed Jeb many times, stranded him in space 3-4 times (EVA accidents in space), and made orbit yesterday and a Mun flyby today. Still working on the "land safely" part afterwards, but I'm learning. Still trying to learn the delta v calculations, and have to do em by hand since I can't mod, but doing well. Probably helps that I play Dwarf Fortress, so I'm used to total failure.
  11. Downloaded KSP on PS4 last week, spent some time with the tutorials, then jumped headfirst into Career mode. Finally made it to orbit and safely landed this morning. Now I'm working on getting to Mun / Minum. No idea how well it will work, because I'm really limited on parts, but in the name of Science and Fun I'm gonna press on.
  12. 7 Days to Die also released on consoles earlier this month, and it's only in alpha, with no guarantee of updates and a broken, buggy game that shouldn't have released the way it did. At least this game I can play and have fun with.
  13. I wouldn't say it's the WORST port ever. Yes there are issues, but it's playable, if difficult. Some games can't even claim that as a port.
