To "solve" that fishtailing issue, I've begun strapping SRBs to my planes and launching them from the VAB. It sure gets them into the air! -

Shoot, this is a bug? It's so reliable on my game I assumed it was just a bad feature. It's atrociously cumbersome while landing on the Mun, especially. Devs, get patchin'!
