Awesome news! Can't wait to hear more about it over the course of its mission. -

Someone should create a weather machine to suck up the bad weather on launch days, and PUSH it somewhere else! -
I'd like to see more specific projects you could send to your space stations for research, just like in real life. For example, medicine testing, animal tests, astronaut weightless studies etc. Perhaps some exposure experiments on the outside of the space station as well. These could be "Kerbal"-ized in some way to make them more fun and silly. Would also like to see the Kerbal's actually performing these tests, with the ability to go inside the station and watch them perform, rather than them just sitting in their seat for years on end smiling and occasionally looking horrified.

What a quickster!

https://bgr.com/2019/10/04/insight-mole-mars-lander-nasa/ Through meticulous work, it seems they are attempting to hold the hammer in place with another arm so it can dig, as the soil has shown to be more loose than previously thought. Just incredible, really hope this pays off! Sorry for the necro, didn't really want to make a whole thread just for this new piece of info regarding InSight if there was already a topic.

Cool presentation, lots of good questions from the crowd. I'm glad they don't appear to be seeking a clamp landing. It's probably doable but not worth going for yet. It's gonna be nuts to see that thing belly-flop. I wonder how it would feel to be in that thing when it does the rapid turn at the end of the fall before performing the controlled landing. Seems a bit jarring. -

Perhaps invited to see if anyone was interested in the Dear Moon project with Yusaku? He was in a band once. Moonchild 2 confirmed? -

I'm just stoked it made it as far as it did. That was an exciting landing attempt all the same. Even got one final picture. What baffles me is how little coverage there was of this mission. A non-government entity putting spacecraft on another body in space should be huge news! Congratulations to SpaceIL for a fantastic job, next time will show itself I'm sure, and hopefully with even more successes. And yeah, my first lander mission to Duna went basically just like this. -

Waaahoooooo!!!! What a way to finish up my shift. I didn't think that center core was going to make it but boy howdy there it is. All three of 'em. Incredible. Starship is going to literally knock my socks off. -

I'm really rooting for this little lander! It has a long way to go, but I'll remain hopeful. -

Would Beresheet be considered SpaceX's first actual payload beyond Earth orbit? I guess it technically just put it in Earth orbit...but it's purpose is the to the Moon! Wouldn't have gotten anywhere without a rocket taking it on up. Yeah, there was Starman, but that was a test flight. In any case, really cool! -

Whoa, that's groovy. Sure would be nice to get an orbiter for Io for more shots of those volcanoes. -

I'm so glad they didn't scuttle it or something. What an incredible mission though, honestly. Sure, monetarily they might have lost, but data-wise this seems like a gold-mine. Sure, there's lots of sensor data to pore over from rockets that fail at some point, but actually being able to examine the whole thing back at the warehouse afterwards is just huge. Lol! The Interstellar edit. "Come on TARS!"
