  1. Thanks a bunch. I managed to install the mod loader (I stupidly thought there would be a steam workshop) and then the mod itself, and so far it seems to work like wonder. I guess there still are some places KSP2 is lacking compared to KSP1, but I think I'll resume my try to munland. It seems like the optimal burn would have been 30 orbits later, so I'm glad I posted here. All those precious delta V I would have lost...
  2. Sorry if that has been mentioned, but what really irks me is that there is no function (or I didn't find the function) to skip an orbit, like in KSP1. I'm left doing suboptimal manoeuvers or wasting my time going around the planet while waiting to find a good opportunity.
  3. I agree with you that the space shuttle did great things. The video says, however, that it narrowed our perspective by focusing on having many low orbit travels. During this time, the NASA didn't focus on returning to the Moon or going to Mars. This less ambitious turn is also explainable by a cut in the fundings, since the main objective (landing on the Moon) was already achieved. So it can be argued that NASA did the best with what it had. That said, how do you answer to the video claims that : - The concept of the external fuel tank was a mistake; - The fact that the space shuttle wasn't at the top of the rocket exposed it to dangers previous models didn't have?
  4. Hi, fellow kerbonauts who are surely more knowledgeable than I am on this subject. I saw this video a few days ago and found it convincing, if a bit extatic about the private sector in the end, but I wonder what you can tell me about its premisses and judgment about this iconic flight program. Was it indeed doomed from the beginning? Why? And how could it have been different?
  5. Hi all of you, I discovered this game a month ago, in a funny video made by a Frenchman. It was so hilarious, that I wanted to try to put a vessel in orbit as well . Ignoring the fact that the game wasn't in sale, I bought it on Steam and tried it. Around 100 playing hours later, here I am. I had though times, before I finally decided to watch some actually explaining videos and to play the tutorial, but I'm starting to get it. So far, I did a Mun and Minmus encounter, and saved around 8 lost kerbonauts. The next step would be landing on the Mun, then probably Minmus. Kerbol system seems vast enough and managing a Space agency is an interesting thing to do. I abandoned the idea of playing without reloading saves, as my first two attempts at career mode were crushing bankrupcies. Another great defeat was my attempts to bring a place at 18,900 meters using only the two most basic jet engines. I decided to finally give up before this mission made me completely fed up of the game. I also put away my general policy of not using mods to keep the game as the developpers made it. It makes sense to me in a game in which you are against some sort of AI, but in KSP, you are "against" the universe. Having tools like the alarm clock or the engineers (for delta v) doesn't seem to me as cheating, since you could easily (indeed, you should) have this in a real space agency. I love this game and wonder where it was in my life before. I even play a bit too much of it, with so much more to discover. I come from a world of Grand strategy games (Paradox Interactive, EUIV, Stellaris, CK2), and I'm impressed by what a small team of indie developpers managed to create. The community here seems very active and I learned that an expansion is in work. I plan to buy it and I hope this game continues for a long time. I might post sometimes, but I have absolutely no prior knowledge in rocket science and am rather poor at maths. I am generally interested in history, philosophy and law, though.
