How far can the rover travel? And what fuel source does it rely on?

Hey folks, I\'ve been playing this game for about half a week now, and I\'ve gotten down landing on the Mun (well, mostly crash landings, I\'m getting there!) but I have a question. How can you pick a specific location on the Mun to land? I\'ve got some crash landed kerbonauts that I want to rescue!
