so when i say part modifier i mean a section where you could go in and spend science developing a part.(the better the part more science spent) it would be reasonably expensive so it isn't over powered or alternatively you could add a part enhancer where you spend funds and science on upgrading that part (yes i know the r&d lets you do that to an extent but i mean a proper part upgrade/modifier with upgrade paths or something like that)
