A couple of things to keep in mind:

    • Do you click on "control from here" on the docking port on your ship you're docking with? DPAI will give you readouts based on your control point, which can appear unexpected/erratic/glitchy results if the measurements are taken from the pod and not the docking port (the port might be too far to the left, but your pod is to the right, etc. Also: orientation)
    • When I started out I'd use docking mode exclusively, because, well, that's what it's for, right? I've since learned that docking in regular mode is much easier (AWSD for orientation, IJKL for translation) - that might reduce some of the docking panic.
    • Keep practicing. Docking used to be a white-knuckle experience for me. Now it's as much routine as a lift off. You'll get there!

Ok, so ill press control from here, and i dont use docking mode anyway. Thanks!

  2. I was docking some ships today and the docking alignment indicator was acting weird. it would tell me to face away from the docking port, and so when i switched to another docking port it told me to do maneuvers that i didn't have enough monopropellant to spare (I'm not very good at docking so i docked with less that 1.00 of monopropellant). I'm not sure if its making me do stuff because its the less effective but easier way to do things, or its glitchy.

there's nothing wrong with it, I was like you at one point at 1.0, but by the time 1.1 rolled around, I was able to do everything myself, so in a way they prepare you. :)

Thanks. Ill do mechjeb for the stuff i know how to do (kerbin orbit), and when i dont know something ill look at how mechjeb does it (like docking) and follow it.
