I fixed it... Seems like it has something to do with these "overal amount of light on the scene" thing in the config. If you max it out, it will annihilate a lot of shadows. I though it is some kind of a quality thing.

I understand that this topic might be a bit outdated, but... Same thing here... I played this game for more than 30 hours and then I saw a screenshot from a friend and noticed that... this game actually can make shadows in space! Dark spots, light spots, shadows on the kerbals in a cockpit. Well, I have nothing like that, although my config is maxed out. I tried running it with -force opengl, didn't help... Also I tried this trick with Ge-Force Experience, but -> it says "cannot optimize the game". Not sure why. Tried to fix game files with Steam as well...
