Hello! I have not posted here in about two years, but I've started another science save, and I'm excited to show off it's progress as I continue to advance. Recently, I manually piloted a probe mission to the moon, I had no SAS so it was a large pain to manually adjust reaction wheel authority so that I could get the results I wanted. Even in the end, I completely forgot to pack more than a Science Jr.... I am also still on a potato, every launch is a slideshow, and that's okay, for now. When KSP2 comes out I imagine I am going to suffer a lot more...

The Name Change Thread (WARNING! ONE TIME ONLY!)
KaliDitzy replied to Souper's topic in Kerbal Network
Can my name be changed to KaliDitzy? -
I couldn't find another suitable place to post a forum question like this, I thought this might be at least somewhat accurate. I need help renaming myself, I see that I can't do it in my account settings or profile settings, but I've rebranded & renamed myself on all of my social media and other personal accounts (the new name being KaliDitzy), and I was wondering if I didn't have to abandon all of my old posts here with photos I wish to keep under myself. This is especially important to me since I may start posting once more when KSP2 comes out. Could I get a rename or a tip to any way I could change the name of my account without creating a new one? Thanks.

Hello again! Made a bit of progress, became stupider and became less stupider, and I made a probe that went to Minmus and back, here we go. Pretty janky rocket, the FA-Akira, begins its launch after some test runs because I was using a probe and I needed to figure out how to actually control it without it flipping over. First run, kraken, second run, tipping, and then on the third run I got a successful ascent. The amount of Delta V in the first stage was actually insane, ~3000m/s of Delta V. With my timing, it was enough to create an encounter with the Mun alone, but I wasn't going to the Mun this mission, changes in plan usually lead to bad outcomes in my experience, ADHD won't get me today. So I made my maneuver for Minmus and went along my way. Started my burn for Minmus, a dozen seconds late but it wouldn't matter much on this scale. I would have to orbit another time after completing the burn to have the encounter with Minmus. So I began my encounter with Minmus after waiting like a minute for timewarp to finish, did my retrograde burn and another burn to get a low stable orbit, I still had 3000m/s of Delta V left, which surprised me, which is when I realized I could make a return journey, and make my science much more valuable. So I began to descend after a small burn, and I was very paranoid about landing since Minmus is infamously bumpy, and I wasn't going to use my probe to land since I was deciding I was gonna do a return mission, eventually I got it shortly after the 2nd stage engine got destroyed and I had to separate. So I did my science, and immediately left to do a burn for Kerbin. Two burns actually, one to leave Minmus and the other to adjust the burn from around a 200km periapsis to 80km. I did another maneuver to lower my periapsis further, leaving me with roughly 1600m/s of Delta V left, and I was travelling at 3000m/s so it seemed to be going well to the changed plans. So I finished off the rest of the fuel in the third stage, and began my burn on the landing stage, I retracted my antennae to shield it from potential heat damage. Then I ran out of fuel, and at a speed of 1km/s, began burning through the atmosphere. After a much graceful parachute deployment... (extended my antennas again because I was paranoid of them bonking and shattering on the ground, despite that probably not changing anything if it did happen.) I complete my landing, with 'much' precision and elegance. Then after that, I recovered it, and waited for like 10 minutes for my game to load the space center for a grand reveal of 312.5 science! A fair and exceptional deal of science if I do say so myself, this will be a much needed advancement, and I can probably do some more missions like this, I may also try and attempt a 'hopping' mission of sorts tomorrow, from Kerbin to the Mun, and then to Minmus, and then finally back to Kerbin to get a huge amount of science. In the meantime I'm going to bed, I'm very tired, but I hope this suffices as something cool to look at

My latest flight: To the northern ice shelf, didn't really get any launch and maneuver photos but here are the re-entry photos I took. I deployed my landing legs because I thought that would help with slowing me down or something. Of course I broke a landing leg because I wasn't paying attention (I was hiding the UI for these screenshots!) Everything worked out though and I was able to deploy my parachutes after slowing down enough reaching 5-6km elevation, which seems dangerously low, I panicked for a while just before my parachutes deployed just in time. The northern ice shelf seems awfully rocky for an ice shelf. Anyways, had just enough power to hold myself up with SAS, didn't matter though because I was going to retract them anyway so I could do an EVA to do more science stuff, so I did that, ran experiment stuff and recovered the vessel, didn't look at how much science I got from this particular mission but I have 50 science now, enough to research my next tech node. I've decided it to be the Basic Science node, so now I can do actual probes and even MORE science stuff. One step closer to landing on Minmus/the Mun, and saving Jebediah.

Currently very frustrated right now, I made my fifth rocket, the Echo-Akira, and put Jebediah on it for a fly-by of the Mun to do science, I have tried numerous times to re-entry but it was either too harsh and caused everything to explode or the parachutes wouldn't deploy due to the remaining velocity, so I've settled on an orbit. A crap ton of science completely out of my hands because I decided to be stupid and send a rocket really early on to the Mun, without RCS and much more sophisticated tech a rescue mission is nigh impossible (I've tried several times already to attempt such a mission) Very upset and angry. I'll give updates for the rest of the day as I progress but Jeb's gonna have to do his own little thing in his capsule for now.

AGHHHH! I lost my save... I updated KSP from 1.10 finally and a lot of mods were breaking with the new update, I had to clear out a huge bunch of my mods and reinstall some, so my save is likely incompatible now, but- I'm not entirely mad to be honest, I've actually been wanting to start fresh for a while since I know a lot more now. I also installed some new mods (being Parallax and Near Future Technologies), and the ones I reinstalled being EVE, SVE, and Scatterer (the visual mods I had to reinstall because the sky and space appeared white because the versions I had were outdated, but Kerbin looks shiny new with these new versions, especially since this time I installed them correctly and followed the instructions.) Welp, a new save is another window to experiment and have more fun, and since I'm a lot more skilled than when I started my last save, I can get a lot more done much quicker, and in a way that involves much less clutter. Here is a photo of the flea, the starting rocket, the dawn of anew.

Oh yes, another thing to add, I made a custom flag, check it out Not exactly proud of it, flag-wise, and by that I mean it breaks many principals of flag design (primarily the lack of minimalism and the rule of no text on a flag), but it doesn't matter too much to me.

Just send a new module with a mobile processing lab up to my space station, I feel pretty good about it. I built and entirely new rocket for the occasion, the Eirene I, and made it specifically for delivering parts up to the space station. I put one of my previously designed modules that I had planned to launch to the space station (the one I chose being the mobile processing lab module, which I would not regret) in the payload fairing, and got ready for launch. Milsey Kerman, a scientist, will join in on the journey as well, inside the mobile processing lab. Later on in the launch for my orbital burn (I'm using a custom galaxy skybox I made): After another three maneuvers or so, I began my burn to line up with my space station, and began slowly crawling to it (because I'm way too cautious, but I guess caution isn't exactly a bad thing!) And then I docked after a "few" more pushes from the RCS thrusters, and then..... I undocked my rocket from the lab module, and before I had a chance to activate my retrograde engines, I accidentally turned up the main engines to full thrust instead of activating the retrograde engines, a total screw-up on my end, I need to stop being so trigger-happy with the Z key and deactivate my engines when docking... In other news, I saved when I docked, so I was able to recover it. Look at her, so majestically dumb, look at all of those clumped round RCS tanks (before I realized I had cylindrical RCS tanks unlocked), cockpits for the middle of the station, absolutely brilliant. Now that I'm moving on to 2.5m parts for my station rather than 1.25m, I wont have a chance to use that 6-sided port, which kind of disappoints me, but it's a necessary change. This is my average space station mission, pretty average to be honest. An off-topic note: VoidSquid, if you're reading this, I didn't get around to doing the relay constellation, obviously will take much more preparation and skill for me to learn, I have no idea how I'm supposed to do triangle formations perfectly spaced apart, Lol. My current janky relay system will have to do for now.

When I get home and attempt it I'll tell you how it goes
-
I'll take a look at it when I get home, it may actually help me significantly as I have lost many probes to poor connection, let's hope I dont put too much on my rockets because of how grand this seems to me.
-
That level of precision must be insane, I'd probably overprepare for something like that I may just set up multiple relays in increasing altitudes above Kerbol to get a uniform spread a few times over, and also maybe some orbiting ones around Moho and Duna. Then after that I can get contact. I certainly have the technology and the rocket for that, once it's all done I can get my probe and also send another for Pol.
-
Definitely, Ive just been lazy Maybe today I'll actually try.
-
I have a probe around Jool but its not powerful enough to send science back to the KSC, next time I go there I'll make sure to fly by Pol and then go back near Kerbin so I can actually transmit the data Lol

Anyone know how to make your ships look cooler
KaliDitzy replied to cebu516's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I tend to usually follow this path as well, I only really mess with the paint if I want it to look differently. -
I think It's great how welcoming you guys are, I already feel at home Lol I've been posting a lot more than I have anticipating but I'm beginning to like it more and more, will definitely check the forums more when I can.

You can right click fuel tanks or other parts if they have variants and choose different colors and forms, that's about as customizable as it gets without adding unnecessary weight and parts, I like the dark/orange variants of parts, they look pretty cool to me. -
My work ethic actually isn't that all up to it today, I did design some new modules for my space station "Station Alpha" in LKO about 80km high however, new science bits I haven't messed with will be heading to it, Station Alpha isn't exactly the best space station currently which is why I'm looking to revamp it, shouldn't be hard once I stop being so tired.
-
I am still at school today however I shall document what I have done when I play KSP today, hopefully a mission to re-establish contact with my Jool probe as I have recently unlocked more powerful relay.
-
AWESOME, seeing something from Half-Life is something I wouldnt have expected but its a welcome sight.
-
More often than not I'll completely botch building new rockets, they always seem to be stuck to the launch pad or fail to get any farther than Kerbin orbit, it's always why I tend to stick to existing rockets to deliver payloads, unless im implementing new technology.

I had not seen Pol before, looks interesting, maybe sometime I'll try to send a little lander probe there to look around and do some science.

Hello, I've been watching KSP stuff since all the way back in 2017 when I became a crazy fanatic for space stuff, and I finally bought KSP in 2019, been playing it since, I've recently started a new save in science mode and I've currently landed Kerbals on the Mun, Minmus, and Ike, and hopefully more in the future, my latest probe has gone to Jool as well. I've been frequenting the forums a lot to look at other peoples help posts so I decided why not join, it's easily the next logical step for me. I may not post a lot but I'll definitely be looking around, I'm still a bit nervous joining new communities, when I become more comfortable however that may change.
