So I have a worthless pile of trash internet connection that struggles to stream 360p video. I've been gone for a while, and the game has gone up a few hundred MB since then. Is there by any chance a torrent option available for downloading the game? Otherwise it's not going to happen. Traditional downloads will just fail for no reason. I know at one point the KSP Store actually offered a torrent version, but I don't see it there now. I'm also open to download managers that actually work, if you know of any. Thanks! DISCLAIMER: Torrents are not illegal, cracked games are. The website did at one point offer this as an alternative download option and I'm just asking if it's still around.

People who joined back in 2011: are any of you still here?
Rarity replied to Panichio's topic in KSP1 Discussion
User #2214 reporting in! I haven't been super active on the forums, and I don't play the game continuously between releases but I've been around since the start. Crazy how things have changed! -
Emotionally invested - most draining happy sad moment?
Rarity replied to Overland's topic in KSP1 Discussion
A long time ago I had this huge trip planned to Laythe with my best crew onboard. I play with crew respawns disabled so I try all I can to keep them alive but I'm really bad with orbital maneuvers and fuel management, but I thought I had compensated enough. Anyway, I got to Laythe and detached my lander to take Jeb and Bill down to the surface. All good so far, I was feeling great about it. They frolicked about and had their fun, then returned to the lander to rendezvous with the return stage where Bob and I believe another Kerbal, probably Doodhat, were waiting. But I had forgot the parachutes and had to do a powered landing, which used too much fuel so I couldn't quite make it back into orbit. The lander was sub orbital and decaying rapidly, over the course of maybe five minutes. I switched to the transfer and burned down to get close to the lander (it was high enough that I could force a change to a different craft to put it on rails so it didn't decay until I got close) but there was way too much turbulence to dock it. So I took a risk and EVA'd Bill out and flew to the transfer stage without too much trouble but I was going down fast. I switched back and got Jeb out. The wind was getting really strong and I almost lost him but made it back to the transfer stage. I thought I was clear but the ship had a TWR of like 0.5, even on Laythe. I burned with all my might but ultimately fell to the planet's surface. I fought to the bitter end, pointing the crew capsules up to maybe have a nice crumple zone. There was a 4-crew capsule near the top with Jeb in his own pod as the tip, and upon impact everything was destroyed but Jeb's pod. He was the only survivor. He was the one I was most worried about losing, but in the process of saving him I lost three other amazing Kerbals and Jeb was stranded. It was a very bitter victory.- 29 replies

I've seen it a few times, but I was thinking you meant that you found it in the game. Like you landed next to it or something. Is it in the game? Or is it just a menu gag?

I'm terrible at refueling missions. My Kerbals pray that their gas light never comes on, lest they have to get out and push.

Anyone Else Recently Build A Bad@** PC in Reponse to upcoming 1.1?
Rarity replied to scribbleheli's topic in The Lounge
No, not specifically for KSP but I do have a pretty new machine I built to replace my old 3770k machine (gave that to my mom to play ESO and the Witcher 3 on) [email protected] Corsair Vengeance DDR4 2600MHz CL14 quad channel 4x4GB Intel 520 120GB SSD Seagate 2TB 7200RPM Gigabyte SOC Champion X99 EVGA 980Ti Hybrid water cooled I'm itching to update it with a newer, bigger SSD but I'm trying to save for a new car and I haven't even fully paid off the 980Ti yet... -
3 easy rocketry tips in 4 minutes for getting to orbit in 1.0
Rarity replied to allmhuran's topic in KSP1 Tutorials
This answered all of my questions. Thank you! -
I am ashamed to say I didn't realize what was going on until halfway through the post.

Our grandparents had model trains. We have Kerbal Space Program!
Rarity replied to inigma's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I'm only 21 and I remember playing with trains I had this one little cheap one that had a little motor in it and would pull itself and two other carts around a small track. I spent countless hours moving the track up and down and putting objects in one of the carts to see just how much horsepower(mousepower?) that train had. Sadly, the bottleneck was its traction from the plastic wheels on a plastic track. But I could still get it to climb up inclines while carrying a spare AA battery in a cart. Fun times. -
aren't aerospikes fairly heavy, too?

Floating off the coast of the Space Center in a plane with no wings or engines. I was trying to recreate a scene from a book I read and failed, but didn't crash hard enough to destroy any part of the fuselage...just the wings and engines.

Realistic Thoughts on additional bodies
Rarity replied to whiterafter's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
HarvesteR has said before that they don't plan on adding any more celestial bodies until they can solve the performance issues, mostly RAM. I would imagine that once they've either ported over to Unity 5, OR they come up with a much better texture loading system (perhaps not load all textures all at the same time?) then they'll be much more open to adding new worlds. BUT, like others have said, I would really like to see more on the planets we have. More planets would most definitely not hurt, though. -
Probably not. While gained from interpretation, it's preeeeettty clear that if ANY testing has been done, it was very minimal amounts. See: They *are* planning on upgrading. They are *not* planning on upgrading until 1.0 of both KSP and Unity 5 are out and things have settled. See: There is very little to be interpreted there, HarvesteR already told us in this thread that KSP is not currently planned to be left on Unity 4. That does not mean plans will not change. But it does mean that your question has indeed been answered.

What is the best KSP settings for my new Lenovo laptop
Rarity replied to Pawelk198604's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Don't actually uninstall IE. Just don't use it. It DOES have a purpose, and no, I don't mean web browsing. No, I don't mean downloading other browsers either. As for your settings, you could probably put everything at medium to start out with and see how that goes. You will almost certainly have to choose between AA or having one or two settings up to high; I doubt you will get both. You would likely be fine with setting texture detail to high, at least. -

I feel like mine would be perfect, except I'm missing Kethane and KAS. And I have a visual pack installed but planets that should have clouds do not Other than that it's great; my memory usage is very much under control thanks to OpenGL and I still have AA. Although...do you think that OpenGL has something to do with my clouds being invisible? I've already tried adding them again twice, I even deleted the ATM cache so it'd remake them.

Bill, Bob, and Jeb's conversation at the implementation of 1.0....

Now that's Kerbal! -
This guy, right here. 64 bit IS x86, and so is 32 bit. Saying your CPU is x86 is like saying the processor in your phone is ARM.

A couple of things. I'm training a rescue crew to save Bob, Bill, and Doodhat (my main/best Kerbals) from the Jool system so I can send them to Moho. On the side I've been launching satellites around Kerbin, and at least one to Eve and to Bop for communications relays. I use the antenna range mod, but modified values. Slightly increased the Whip's range and the second antenna's too, but decreased the third one's range because it could pretty much work anywhere in the system. I don't want a loss in communication to make probes stop working though, I just want to have to use relays for farther out missions. I also like the idea of a relay's orbit putting it on the other side of the main body in whatever system I'm in and I temporarily lose comms. It's a very minor thing, but still thrilling without being masochistic.

That's not true at all. The physics calculations are limited to one thread and therefore one core, yes, but the game does split tasks down at least two cores such as audio processing. You can test it yourself; build a CPU hog then compare your CPU usage to idle. You can even edit the affinity so that KSP is limited to a single core and the audio may distort.

I remember when Nova and Sunday Punch were separate. There was this one really bulbous orange tank I liked that had an outrageous amount of fuel and then there was this cool "ion" engine that was just a normal engine with only 50 thrust but outrageous ISP. Then another mod added what was in effect an asteroid (if memory serves, it was around a class D in size) as a part you could add to your ship. The description said it was the Mun, and questioned why it was down here then tells you to get it back up there. The only way I was ever able to get that damn thing into orbit was using those OP orange tanks. But I did it. Looking at that thread for the red fuel tanks was weird. I wonder if any of those people are still around?
