I built a mk2 space plane with 4 rapiers, its not giant, it has 2 fuel tanks and wings and thats it. It cant break 400m/s. I attached 8 engines and it still cant break 400m/s. I built the same plane in ksp 1 with just 2 rapiers and it easily gets to space.
