My PC has an old Nvidea 5700 LE with 256 meg of ram. The altimeter was all over the place, fluctuating wildly during liftoff making the game hard to play. Many Kerbals lost their lives. Using this settings.cfg file fixed this problem. The altimeter now keeps up during liftoff. Thanks everyone! This makes the game so much more playable for me. Word of advice. I try to never overwrite files. Change the the name of the original file to settings.cfg.old

After a week of failure we just completed our first successful mission. Orbited the planet (kearth?) and returned with the guys still alive. Great fun.
