  1. heh, i think i've angered the kraken with my vehicle dubbed, "mun tank"... i've flown it to the mun twice now, and both times it makes the trip successfully, only to flip rediculously fast at very low speeds.

it's worth noting that i'm using the gravisapa to get the 8 wheeled monstrosity there, but once on the surface, i didnt use any of the functions of the gravisapa. (pics to come soon... didnt think to take any...)

  2. Question: Is using rockets to get the vehicle to its starting position allowed? For an example, flying a boat into the ocean, then dumping the rockets, coming to a complete stop, and then using the secondary fuelless propulsion system?

Well... instead of using rockets, use carts on a decoupler or something similar. Carts are useless on the water, and would provide no propulsion as a result. If it\'s to get to something other than the water such as the Mün... Well, for now, keep it on Kerbin. Otherwise, you should be fine launching from the SPH.

  3. I\'m seeing plenty of time trial challenges, but they all have one thing in common... engines!

I\'m here to break that trend. Your challenge is to build the longest lasting, or fastest vehicle you can, without using rockets, jet engines, RCS, or carts.

You can use any mods you like. Just nothing that uses fuels of any kind. It\'s a kind of glitch challenge.

You may be thinking, 'This is impossible', but it\'s not. I achieved 1,452m/s using just fins and landing gear. (I also pulled 72.5G\'s during that flight). You can also use the damned robotics mod to create a vehicle that rolls on itself. (using rotators in place of wheels is cheap. dont do that.)

Video would be great, but not required. Pics of atleast the flight results are required.

  4. so far, my most successful design has been.... 4 parts.

    yeah... 4 parts.... that\'s it. a pod, a fuel tank, a motor, and a parachute. that\'s it.

    i did reach 264.7m/s though! :D

the motor is from the nova punch pack i think... i also have the C7 packs, but clearly i didnt use em.

  5. Challenge Accepted!

well, it will be later tonight... this comp cant handle KSP... >_>

also, pro-tip. use a reverse tricycle. with 2 wheels out in front of the dragster and 1 in the back, it\'ll steer easier and stopping wont send you flipping end over end when you try to stop. (use B to break with retractable landing gear)

I\'ll report later on what i\'ve achieved.

  6. The Challenge

    Fly to the Mün.

    Comments

It\'s literally that easy... or is it?

Personally, I don\'t think it\'s gonna be all that easy.

Trying to get an air breathing jet engine to give you enough speed to get far enough into orbit that RCS can fly you to the Mün.

Yes, you\'re reading that correctly. No liquid fuel engines. No SRBs. Just air breathing turbines. (a ram jet is still a turbine, right?)

Video would be preferable to see that there really wasnt any liquid fuel engines used...

    After thought

If you can get back to Kerbin, awesome. If not, oh well. Not a requirement.

If this turns out to be not that hard, then lets see who can do it in the smallest jet. ^_^
