The parts vanishing is because you are using the version of DR from this thread, use this instead(click raw). I was having the same problem and it took me ages to figure out, eventually I found that above link on the DROMOMAN robotic arms spaceport page Make sure to delete MuMechLib.dll from your plugins folder if its there, that's what's causing the problem I believe.
