Made it to Duna and Eve - though both ships got heavily damaged on lading due to lack of fuel.
-
Right now there's no way of knowing except focusing on Kerbol and using a protractor. Maybe they'll add such a feature soon.
-
Landing @ Duna:
100m above the ground - fuel runs out. Last hope are the parachutes. Deploy them.
Still going 60m/s - spacecrafts smashes into the ground. Only the capsule has survived.
Let's see if I can rescue this.
But wired2thenet is right - failure means success in this game. You'll often learn new things how you can do this or that better.
-
I agree on all of these. Would be great.
Also Fuel Depots or something like the Kethane mod would be nice.
-
I got to eve yesterday. however, i tried to get to gilly and spent too much fuel, and crashed into the oceon of eve. gonna do it again.
Great Site - thanks for that one!
-
You really should try getting such a lander there without using any parts modification. That would be a real challenge.
Also I suggest using parachutes when landing at Eve. Though you should watch that they don't rip your ship apart.
Good luck!

I frequently send up several ships at once so that if (when) I crash one I have three or four spares waiting to land! (This is especially true of the KSP BigTrak)
This won\'t work anymore (that well) when money gets implemented.

AP: 346\'477m
PE: 338\'121m
This is actually my 4th real try of orbiting a rocket. However there is no fuel left =(
Tho it\'s pretty perfect I think. Using the same rocket as before.

AP: 171\'718m
PE: 155\'704m
I could\'ve done more. I\'ll do it the next try.

I had 23 seconds left.

I was able to increase my maximum speed by removing the decoupler and thus reducing wheight while still being able to make a 'safe' landing.
This is my 2nd entry.

I actually made one within 2 minutes. However since I\'m completely new to KSP (2 days) I don\'t really know what\'s the best route to take to get to orbit. That being said I had an AP of 1\'000\'000 m .... =P

Mine is probably the one you would go for when money gets implemented.
Thus it is the most you get of the least.
Cost: 8782
MAX. speed: 241.4m/s

While I don't have a record speed my landing was pretty spectacular. After semi-orbiting Kerbin at a max surface speed of 2271.3m/s I came to be right in front of the KSC as my fuel ran out. I took the opportunity and tried to land there.
There it is:
Trying to slow myself down to using the wings while keeping an eye on the electrical charge
Slightly overshot that
Looking good so far..
Brace for impact!
Touchdown! Was pretty soft actually.
