Oh look, I can now Here's the full vehicle + launcher, put it into the VAB to launch. Launch procedure is simple, ASAS and full throttle, then hit space whenever you see engines cut out. Also be careful to decouple the lander stage (final stage) under low/no power, as it can damage the tail.

Yep it's all stock & I avoided the fuel exploit as much as possible with ample fuel left over. I'd post the craft file but I don't seem to have permission to add attachments.

Great mission! I prefer controlled landings over parachutes too. Here's a similar one which I managed to land on the mun and return to the runway. I'm still trying to figure out a horizontal mun lander shuttle though. [spoiler title=Moon lander shuttle]

I created a plane with a decoupler and took off successfully, but accidentally pressed the space bar. The command pod separated, rolled back down the fuselage and stopped when it hit the tail.
