It started with Toribash (go check it out, it's free), where my username was adjective followed by something like a fruit, plant, or vegetable, and both starting with the same letter. My ranking would go up, but never my actual skill; because of how the ranking system works, I ended up restricted to playing with people who a) were far better than me. were absolutely no fun to talk to (which, in a game with several people, you end up doing more often than fighting) There are also custom games without rank regulation, but I'd have to browse the custom games for quite a few minutes to find a game I wasn't instantly kicked from. I had to create a new account, and after going through this cycle several times (KannedKiwis, OddOrange, FiredFicus), I reached LucidLemon and I've used the name for everything else since.

Questions about 'Apollo-Style' lunar expedition
lucidLemon replied to Sinu's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
I believe Zooltac's Escapepod mod provides a fix for this. You make your command pod into an escape pod with a simple .cfg edit; simple replace module = CommandPod with module = EscapePod The mod saves the staging of the craft before detaching it, which seems to be your problem; I haven't had used it recently, so it might not be working for .17 -
This wasn't a pain to set up at all. Is it possible to set up a flyby of all of Jool's moons?

Get to Duna Using Mechjeb
lucidLemon replied to Nicolas411's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Mechjeb is good for teaching, and I absolutely love it, but try not to do your first ANYTHING with mechjeb's autopilots or another person's design, it absolutely destroys the excitement of the moment. However, the Smart A.S.S. is quite good, and I don't have anything against it, SAS and ASAS sometimes just don't do the job. If your still a noob, practice your skills! Try getting heavier and heavier things into space, test your landers at KSC, run Mun landing missions, then try some Minmus landings. Even seeing how far you can shoot a spaceship into space is good practice. Anyhow, to answer your question, it's somewhere around 3000 m/s -
Jeb for president!

Thanks, I'm working on a 3-man Mun lander in the same style as the Signum Luna, but it's a bit short on delta-v, I managed to return to Kerbin after a couple of aerobrakes. EDIT: **** I didn't save the damn thing, I'm really bummed now; my primary launching stage was amazing, I was planning to use it on it's own as an SSTO. Is there anyway to recover a craft from debris it left behind? Maybe an automatic archive hidden away, or something?

*Bump* Time to start working on this again, updated with two new crafts.

Landing on bumpy\hilly objects (such as Bop or Gilly)
lucidLemon replied to szpw's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Actually, it was EVER so slightly scooching it's way down, but it was only noticeable if you were paying close attention, on planets with lower gravity, it would probably work just fine. I highly recommend using seperatrons or RCS to plant yourself on the hill right before touchdown. -
Landing on bumpy\hilly objects (such as Bop or Gilly)
lucidLemon replied to szpw's topic in KSP1 Discussion
If you want to test your designs, fly the lander over to the nearby mountain range. Unsurprisingly, a very wide and short lander is the best approach. Here's a picture from .16 using landing legs from novapunch -
[0.17] Squall C: Sepratron I Missiles (Armed)
lucidLemon replied to VincentLaw's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
He put two boosters on either side of the radial decoupler, so that the thrust and center of mass are lined up after some minute fiddling. -
The Signum Luna, by far my sexiest rocket. It shows just what you can do when you allow part clipping. <iframe class="imgur-album" width="100%" height="550" frameborder="0" src="http://imgur.com/a/98Kgl/embed"></iframe> The staging is such that you can leave no debris in orbit. It still has about 7/8 of a tank left after landing, so it's perfectly capable of returning.

Kloning Is Activated How did you think they reappear at KSC?

How can a Kerbal survive in space forever?

I think it's a dream in Jebediah's head, so anything goes (particularly if it's explosive.) -
TO DUNA!.........Which..........Which way is that again?
lucidLemon replied to Spinecone's topic in Welcome Aboard
I know for a fact that Duna isn't this way -
If you were the first person on mars, what would you say?
lucidLemon replied to KleptoKat's topic in Forum Games!
I would probably say something along the lines of, "I welcome humanity to a new era of exploration" -
Granted, but all of reality folds in on itself I wish for reality to unfold itself.
-
Granted, but you have no control of where and when your going (psssst, the sun) I wish for a sunset.

Transporter Erector Launcher (TEL) Challenge
lucidLemon replied to MaverickSawyer's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
You can too carry it upright <iframe class="imgur-album" width="100%" height="550" frameborder="0" src="http://imgur.com/a/ok8JQ/embed"></iframe> I got an 80-81 km orbit, then deorbited with a little fuel to spare. -
It doesn't need to. Flying in very low martian atmosphere is the equivalent of flying in high Earth atmosphere. Should this be moved to the science labs?
-
Would it be possible to pump in kethane from nearby tanks (descending from parachutes / landed on the ground) and then convert it into fuel, all while flying up from Eve?

Transporter Erector Launcher (TEL) Challenge
lucidLemon replied to MaverickSawyer's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
I put my craft on the Cart mod's big truck and launched it again; I also removed some weight, so it should fly even better now. I'll enter it for the challenge when I return from school. -
Transporter Erector Launcher (TEL) Challenge
lucidLemon replied to MaverickSawyer's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
I just made a rocket barely taller than two command pods; it reached a fairly circular 135 km orbit before deorbiting, it looks really easy to transport too. Is there any restriction to the transporter, or can I just slap some wheels on decouplers? -
It shows up in a sealed container. I wish I had a stationary supercomputer
-
Granted, but he forged his medical license I wish that I had a supercomputer

Spl1nt, I think one can emphasize readability without dedicating their life to being a grammar nazi; I found his post useful because it's simply a lot easier to read. I think it is always advisable to just look over your post, just once, maybe read it aloud if your feeling wild. I don't care about clauses or verb agreement, but I want to know what someone is saying without having to decipher it. But back on topic: This is legitimate, but it's not NASA's "next big thing". http://www.nasa.gov/centers/langley/news/releases/2002/02-090.html# http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aerial_Regional-scale_Environmental_Survey
