Orbital fuel storage
RIGAMORTIS -AGW- replied to RIGAMORTIS -AGW-'s topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
Rune, yes it is Single Stage To Orbit (SSTO). Each cluster is 1 mainsail with 6 LVT-45's ringed around. I burned up almost every liter of fuel just getting it into orbit, but now that it is there, I can fill it up in short order. I've seen a few other posts where the tapered tail section from aircraft was used to add radius at the base of the fuel tank. I tried many times to duplicate it, but couldn't get them to attach. Then I put 6 large I beams around the base and then they snapped into place. The 2 side engines are attached to a box of I-beams that extend either side of the main tanks. I covered the area with plates and mounted the battery bank then attached the 6 smaller fuel tanks to the crossbeams. 4 of the smaller tanks feed the center tank and 2 feed the outboard tanks. -
Another shot at transporting 2 rovers and two habitat modules at the same time. 3 attempts, 2 failed due to lack of fuel. I finally got the right mix of fuel onboard. Needed 1865 fuel to break my 100km orbit around Kerbin and get to the moon for a high descent landing. I still don't like the rovers. Boarding is tricky, I didn't put enough batteries onboard, and they don't seem to work with the mecjet rover autopilot. On the other hand, they don't tip over as easily. On our way: Touchdown: Deploy: Time for a drive:

Been tinkering around with something that doesn't wobble, has lots of docking ports, power generation, a crew cabin, and can store a large amount of fuel.

I thought I'd built a pretty good lander for a revised rover. It comes in nice and stable , puts the estimated landing crosshair right where I chose, but then just before touchdown it swings wildly onto its side in midflight. I managed to jettison the rover and survive impact with only 2 damaged front tires. Rover is fine driving in reverse, just lock out steering on all but 2 wheels

Finally, after much frustration with horizontal motion, I landed a rather heavy ship on the mun.

Brilliant, I can't wait. This game has huge potential, I love it. Questions - Will there be 6DOF trackIr support? Will this allow a first person view during EVA?

A 3 man capsule was prepared, using the same rocket design and 3 kerbonaughts blasted off to rescue Erble. It was only once they had achieved Mun orbit that Kerbol Space Command realized there was not a spare seat for Erble LOL. As with the first landing, horizontal speed over the ground seems difficult for the Kerbonaughts to manually control. Maneuvering thrusters achieved a landing trajectory 4.2km from Erble's marooned ship and the rescue craft came down towards the Mun at 19m/s or maybe that was horizontal speed (that's the difficult part). The rescue ship cartwheeled across the ground coming to a landing on its side. All 3 kerbonaughts survived, but are now also marooned with Erble. On Sunbol, the 19th of Augbol, after a 1D1H48M30S 270 degree slingshot around Kerbol; Erble Kerman became the first Kerbonaught in my universe to land on the Mun. Regretable, the craft tipped over on landing and several components broke off. Erble is able to EVA and walk around, but his ship (DR. Spock) is broken. Thus, Erble becomes marooned on the mun. Got it working. Thanks.

Desktop, tried F5 and still no screenshots.

Unobtainium might be a better choice.

Have my screenshot button set to F1. Thought it was working, there is 1 picture in the screenshot folder. Finally managed to hit the moon (167m/s yeah, I ran out of fuel) and was taking screenshots only to discover I didn't take any. Is there something I've not setup properly?
