So there is no mod available, that allows me to do something like this on my own? Am I able to re-attach crafts into the cargo bays of the addons you are talking about? -
Hello there, is it possible in some way to create a rocket with something like a cargo bay that's only connected to the bottom by beams, like I tried in this picture, without any mods? I wanted to create a small rover that's not radially attached to the rocket (which must be balanced then), but in such a cargo bay. However I found no way to do something like this with beams and go back into inline design. And if there is a mod that allows that, could you please tell me its name? Thanks in advance Padarom

Is it the incompatibility with .21 or is the stack connector port generally so unstable? I tried to put it below a horizontal winch on a skycrane for my rover, but when accelerating with the carrier rocket it's super unstable and bends into all directions which makes the rocket impossible to fly (even for MechJeb). Putting struts into the rover doesn't help, as I am not able to lower it with the winch.

Hey, I'm pretty new to MechJeb, all I've done so far is using the ascent autopilot back in .18 Currently I'm trying to build a rover with a functional skycrane with the ability to lower the rover to the ground (using Kerbal Attachment System). I quickly realized it is almost impossible, but at least pretty hard, to control the skycrane manually, so I added the MechJeb command thing to do it for me. There should be enough fuel to maintain the hovering-height on a low-gravity planet, but I don't know how to set up mechjeb to do what I want. I want MechJeb to maintain the height (which means Vertical Speed = 0m/s) as well as kill all Horizontal Speed, because that makes lowering of the rover hard. I already tried to use the translatron KEEP VERT mode, but together with the "Kill H/S" toggle the skycrane stays in its position for ~5-10 seconds and then turns over and makes unpredictable movements- Which results in my rover making loopings around the skycrane on its rope. So does anyone have an idea how to improve this, or which mode to use best? Thanks in advance

I recently figured out this design for my Eagle program. It is a really big rocket, currently only for one kerbonaut. I am sure there are more efficient and smaller versions of a rocket which also make it on mun and back, but this is the first one working I've built so far. However, it has Mechjeb on it, so if you don't have that I could upload a second version. http://uploaded.net/file/z7uq0vjl - Sorry for uploading there, mediafire gave me an upload failure every time :/ The first stage has 4 liquid boosters and 3 solid boosters. Launch them at ~75% thrust until you drop the solid ones, then get thrust to 100%. As soon as this stage is burned out completely start the next one. Only the 3 outer engines will apply thrust as you're high and light enough now. You should be able to get into a circular 200-300km orbit (may be higher) with 75% of the center engine's fuel. Wait for the right moment and then rise your apoapsis until it reaches moon-distance. You should have 4 small engines (with landing struts) and a small engine right below the capsule now. The 4-engine part is going to be your lander. Extend the landing struts and slow down as much as possible to land (I often use MechJeb to do that). After you landed you should still have ~15-20% fuel left. You could either use that to start you back to space again, or decouple it while it is on moon to have a landing reference for your next missions. The last thrust-stage should be enough to get into a 30km orbit around the moon, delete the inclination, rise your orbit to a high orbit around Kerbal and finally lower your periapsis until it's negative. Finally decouple the last fuel tanks and open your chute. Hope my instructions were good enough to follow them and my design suits you. In case of doubts use MechJeb to continue your flight. Just got a pretty good flight. I added wheels to my craft and started it as low as possible with an angle of 0°. It rolled about 50m, then it took off, went another few hundred meters before it did a pretty long turn (which I don't know the reason for) and landed safe. One wing crashed while it landed, but it rolled out pretty good and made another few meters.
