  1. I dont think I\'ve ever hit that many G\'s and not had the capsule explode when hitting atmo.
  2. I made a ship with 4 cannons on it and rendezvous with an old station of mine. It really doesn\'t deorbit parts, it obliterates them.
  3. The retrograde reticle is your best friend for killing the majority of your lateral momentum after that use RCS translation. MechJeb is a big help in this cause to can use it to control your throttle while you concentrate on maneuvering.
  4. Well for moon shots you just need to keep in mind a few things when at the design table. You don\'t need a lot of fuel or power to land and return all you have to do is get half way back to Kerbin and the gravity well does the rest, just keep some fuel for deorbit. Tall is bad, you want your landers shot a squat so that if you give it a less than perfect landing it doesn\'t go all tippy on you. My best landers followed the K.I.S.S. principle.
  5. Well the reason I ask is because if you include my assisted and my unassisted landings together I\'ve landed on the moon probably 50-75 times. If you only count the unassisted its like <10. MechJeb just makes accurate and repeatable landings easier. Just give it a proper vehicle and it can put 10 different vehicles on the moon within about a 0.5 km radius.
  6. I find that the insta orbit only feels like cheating for me when I use it to put something in orbit that should have been reasonable to fly up myself. When I put really big things in orbit, like massive space stations, it would have been build modularly in orbit anyway rather than being shot up all at once. I can\'t wait for docking when we can legitimately build things in orbit. I just hope the strength of the docking couplings at as strong as the bonds between normal modules are.
  7. Wish I could, believe me I tried, but the game doesn\'t do negative buoyancy.
  8. Oi! I thought it was well designed.
  9. After many months minutes of testing, several miles of duct tape and a couple surplus army rafts I give you....Sea Lab.
  10. But there arent any ghosts.
  11. I was was feeling pretty boss for putting this on the moon. I can\'t top anti-gravity though.
  12. Its located along the southern lip of of this large crater. Do we have a name for this region?
  13. Actually the Hab was very stable during descent.
  14. Any name suggestions for my new moon base?
  15. Tested it today with JellyCub\'s missiles. It\'s quite effective. Dove in on the target at ~45 degrees? I had 3 racks of 4 missiles launched in tandem so I had 3 volleys of 4 which put the full complement of 12 on target in about 3 seconds. Really big boom. The vehicle is responsive enough to pull out of the dive pretty quickly.
  16. This is really fun. I made a battle ships and rendezvous with one of my stations and basically turned it into confetti.
  17. Ugh maybe take the chutes off and turn the plane into a heavy dive bomber or change them out for one of the missile packs.
  18. Ah I didnt know that. So you can use the bomber to get anywhere in the world but have to drop to 2,000 (I\'m assuming AGL rather than ASL) to do a bombing run.
  19. Yeah it is. Basically any altitude in the upper atmosphere will give you crazy range.
  20. I think I may have solved the orientation problem. Instead of using the radial MechJebs I\'ll use the linear models. That should keep the orientation correct or, at worst, result in a 180 degrees shift on one plane.
  21. Well this experiment was a lot of fun. I took my standard ISV (Inter Stellar Vehicle) design extended the center span and piggy backed two rudimentary drop ships to it. I had noticed a few weeks back that if a piece of jettisoned debris has a MechJeb on board that it becomes a controllable entity. Well I jettisoned the dropships returned to the space center and yep I was ably to pilot the dropships. The only problem is that the controls were way out of whack. Like W and S were yaw and A and D were pitch and roll was hardly functional at all but I had enough control to navigate into retrograde and reenter. But there was on controlability in atmo. This was more of a proof of concept than a real viable spacecraft but it was fun so I thought Id share with the community
