I had the same issue. Problem: I copied all subdirectories from the "Parts" directory in the fuel fix over to the "Parts" directory in KSP. Doing that, I replaced all subdirectories in there with the ones from the fix. However, the fix only supplies the changed "part.cfg" files, so by replacing the whole directories I accidentally deleted all the other stuff in there. Without all that stuff, KSP freezes on startup at "liquidEngine" without any error message. Solution: Replace only the "part.cfg" files in the directories instead of the whole directories.
