  1. I just get a bemused look at people who say that MechJeb is somehow cheapening their game. First off, if they don't like it, they don't have to use it. Secondly, I'll point out that every reputable space agency in the Real World uses as much automation as they possibly can. Even the old Apollo astronauts had a simplistic but functional autonav system. There's a *reason* the Apollo 11 astronauts were taking their lives into their hands when they tried to dead-stick a manual alignment for an Earth deorbit burn. I for one am very grateful for this mod. It allows me to step past the extreme difficulty of calculating and managing orbital dynamics and move on to the more fun aspects of building a space program. I had a few issues as some here might know, getting the changed MechJeb to work. I *think* I've got it. I've got the AR202 case now, at any rate, although I have yet to launch anything. (way too early in the morning for that, now. ) From a stylistic perspective, I hope the dev team working on the MechJeb project import the other modules into the new format. For purely entertainment reasons, I loved putting the MechJeb "Space Core" on rockets. It's at the moment the only part I really find I'm missing.
  2. I'll try that stuff shortly. But for completeness' sake, I'll just say what I've been doing here. I recently had a chance to replace key PC parts, so I did a full replacement. What that means here is that 21.1 is essentially a *new* install, with all the parts installed fresh from the Spaceport. The 1.9.8 version is what shows in the Spaceport, so I installed that. No Mechjeb control. A bit if searching showed that the 1.9.8 doesn't work with 21.1, which makes me wonder *why* it's got star billing, and why the more modern version isn't being pointed to, but whatever... I then followed the link to 2.0.9, but as you say, all that has is a few dll's and no modules. I've been trying to get these things to work ever since, and getting more confused all the time. I'll see if these instructions help. Thanks!
  3. I think that's sort of been lost in the shuffle. I've installed 1.9.8, and the only MechJeb doodad that even shows up in my build windows is HydroJeb. Nothing else. I installed the 2.0.9 patch, and same deal. I then installed the patch they're testing in that other forum, I still can't see any MechJeb parts in the build windows. Everyone's racing ahead about how they're going to fix this and that, and I can't find instructions anywhere about what to do if the parts don't even appear in the build window!
  4. Hi. A couple questions from a newbie. I saw the cool satellites Voyager Labs is doing, and they said they used Probodyne and KW PLF. Does anyone know where I can get those two mod groups? It's nice that they're getting acknowledgement, but it doesn't help when I can't find the resources to add to my game. (frustrated.) Also, I've been trying to build a rocket which would put a satellite into orbit. I've got the mod (whose name I can't remember... I don't do well with names...) which allows you to put a large breakaway shell around a satellite package. That's fine. But I can't figure out how to put a capsule in that with a parachute, because the parachute would obscure the pod bay connector. And most of the MechJeb units I've found have no parachute linkage on the top, so I can't add the satellite cargo bay on top. Anyone have any advice for someone trying to build a cargo rocket? Thanks!
