  2. Yes, but If I were a Kerbal I'd rather not carry a large pack of stamps about with me. But I suppose you could just write the Kavarican script with a pencil or whatever, so my argument is moot.

[ATTACH=CONFIG]33750[/ATTACH] The Kerbal Space Program has, in recent months, made significant progress in exploring both outer space and certain elements of Kerbin itself hitherto unknown to Kerbalkind. One of the most important discoveries was the sighting of a whole new continent on the dark side of the planet. Whilst some argue that there is no dark side of the planet, and that everyone has known about the other continent for hundreds of years, it nevertheless sparked a new industry in aerospace manufacturing. This new industry is based around mass transport, something recently aided in local areas by the invention of the wheel, except with one major exception – aeroplanes. Kerbals have, through time, built plenty of flying machines. Many did not work exactly as intended, but the new Kerbal Aerospace Company has bought a lot of designs from different people and has come up with a series of aircraft designed to carry Kerbals around. With success in this area, the Kerbal Aerospace Company is also branching into high performance aircraft, designed to give those certain thrill seeking Kerbals a chance to fly around in style. Some have argued that our 'high performance jets are, in fact, highly dangerous death-traps' and that 'you don't fly so much as lurch uncontrollably through the air'. Well, to these certain nay-sayers, we invite them to please go and stick their heads in a bin. One of our latest lines of aeroplane, the Longprobe, was used in a research experiment by the Kerbal Space Program to try and get to the North Pole. The Longprobe failed, and they sent a rocket instead. However, the Longprobe did carry three Kerbonoughts at once, and was remarked by the Mission Commander Jebediah Kerman to be 'quite comfortable'! The North Pole mission gave the Kerbal Aerospace Company a great deal of cash to play around with, enabling us to modify the Longprobe and create a commercial version, complete with a 70% cargo capacity increase. Some have noted that the Longprobe Commercial is 'dangerously underpowered' and 'liable to snap in half on landing'. Well, to these niggling complaints, we note that the removal of one of the engines has pushed down the cost an awful lot. Also, you use half as much fuel as using two engines, which is cheaper. The latter comment is nullified by the fact that we tested the Commercial quite a lot, and it never snapped in half for us. Ever. As for the performance jets we mentioned earlier, one is already out there and on the proverbial shelves – the Deltacraft MkII! This super-high agility jet has been shown to be able to literally tear itself apart with insane manoeuvres. The turn speed is astronomical, but since we haven't worked out a way to measure it you'll just have to take our word for it. The single-seat MkI Cockpit is great for being able to see out of the aircraft (looking behind not inclusive), and the Basic Jet Engine is perfectly simple for those Kerbals who don't like fiddling around with complicated things like variable-pitch rotors and electric bits and stuff. On a completely different note, if you see a MkI Deltacraft, report it to us immediately and don't try to fly it (the MkI hasn't got any windows to see out of). Kerlington Model Rockets and Paper Products Inc. has seen fit to provide us with a shipment of R-8 manoeuvring surfaces, so that now you can turn the MkII in any direction you see fit! Also available is the Kerboplane MkI, arguably the simplest and easiest to fly aeroplane ever. And it's quite cheap.   13. I was just wondering if it's possible to make an unmanned rocket, for probing purposes. And to preserve the lives of existing crewmembers. Is there a part in vanilla, or a add-on that can do it?
  14. I accidentally aborted a ground mission with Jeb at the controls. Now he is gone Is there any way I can fiddle about with the game to get him back, so he can instead die honourably in a fiery crash?

  16. Hmm, thanks, I'll have to root around in the settings. And that setting sun idea sounds easily workable. I've tried reaching Duna with a paper printout protractor held against the screen for 'precise rocket-science measurements'. It's, uh, slightly innaccurate.
  17. Thanks! I've been using that calculator thingy that's on http://ksp.olex.biz/. It's quite useful, though it took me a while to get my head around what it actually meant. I've just about managed to sort sail past Duna, but it was an encounter (a rubbish one, but an encounter none the less). I suppose it's just one of those things that you need to know how to do first to know how to do it first, which is what makes it so tricky.
  18. I feel terribly sorry for my Kerbals, in that I cannot seem to guide them to another planet. I can get to the Mun through that method where you get an east travelling orbit, and burst when you see the Munrise. But that isn't a mathematical way of doing it, so I can't translate that into getting to Duna or any other planet. Basically, I need someone to tell me in very, very simple terms how to get to another planet. I need to know what bits of the navball to look at, and what my heading is (and what the heading even measures itself up against), and some way to know when Kerbin's position is appropriate for the manouevre. If there is any maths involved (which I'm sure there is) then I need someone to explain it to me extremely simply, because I'm a foolish Kerbal who can't do numbers. For instance, I have no idea what any of the letters stand for in equations. I studied physics at GCSE, but that's it. End of knowledge. Also, I put too much in posts. Sorry about that. Also, is it just me being old and senile or is it literally getting harder to do anything with the old stock parts on KSP? Thanks!
  19. Hello! I'm totally new to these forums (hence my posting here), but not really to KSP. That doesn't mean I'm a safe mission commander though. Far from it. In fact, it links into my first question: Is there some way to work out mathematically when and where to make a orbital transfer to another planet? I can't seem to guess correctly, and am not smart enough to work it out myself. Also, if you happen to be thinking of anwering that question, bear in mind I'm and idiot. Why am I finding all the Kerbal Space Program sites quite slow to load? Why can't I edit my profile at all? It just says I'm not allowed. Thanks very much!
