  1. This might be one of those times when constructing in LKO might be a good idea
  2. I usually do manned flights to first do a fly-by to gather science points and then drop a few attached smaller satellites into orbit. This makes the actual long range satellite network easier to finish, as you already have most of the local infrastructure set up
  3. I would probably do the Kerbin escape and return one, then research docking ports and bring a big refueling/resupply tank around the Mun. From there it should be easy to land multiple times on the Mun and then go back up and refuel.
  4. I play with RT and TAC too, and I found that a quick manned trip outside of Kerbins SoI was enough to get the parts needed for more long range manned travel. A quick trip to another planet, even though you might not be able to land, will give a tong of science especially if you aerobrake as that is another opportunity to gather science. Just remember that you need a RT link back home to be able to transmit it. If you go manned, create a heavy mother ship and attach a single use non-dockable lander which you can use on Ike or Gilly, then have your extra life support stuff waiting for you to get back into orbit. TAC makes a two way lander almost impossible since you need to bring so much extra mass in the form of life support supplies.
  5. This is almost mandatory on longer rockets. A big payload on top of multiple orange tanks get very wobbly without them.
  6. Welcome! KSP is indeed one of the biggest things to hit the gaming world in a while, and it's also increasing the interest for space exploration in the younger generation which could only be a good thing
  7. Very well deserved! Congratulations to SQUAD!
  8. Got a space construction base set up for storage of parts for my mothership in LKO. Gonna be sweet
  9. As always, awesome! I'm also amazed by how good the Sagan readings work in these movies.
  10. Sweet. Which series? The Hard Mode one, or the stock stuff?
  11. It happens. I just use it to RP a catastrophic structural failure, and enjoy the rescue mission it creates
  12. Welcome to the forums. And of course the endless time sinkhole that is KSP
  13. Hi Wam. Welcome to this forum, where you can feel safe together with your fellow Kerbaholics.
  14. Welcome. Most people here are well behaved, so you should not be yelled at without good cause
  15. Will there be another one of these any time soon?
  16. I usually put mine fairly close to Jool. Just add a nuclear tug to bring payloads to their destination efficiently, and you're golden
  17. Orbital periods are the key. Apo/peri isn't important. I'd recommend using the Kerbal Engineer Redux mod for satellite deployments, espescially when playing with RemoteTech
  18. So, what about several layers of plates? I might have some testing to do
  19. Might have to test this with Deadly Reentry.
  20. Welcome. Long timer here, the addiction is near impossible to break
  21. Welcome. Go easy on the Kerbals
  22. The game makes you think, and you need some patience and determination to do well. Also, tons of really cool mods!
