"You know you messed it up when..." thread
MyNameIsNotPa replied to Pachi3080's topic in KSP1 Discussion
When you realize you forgot THE return vehicle. -
How do I get this non-obvious 'mystery' device, capable of pure scientific wonders beyond the imagination, in space (preferably to a distant celestial body). As you can see, it's oddly shaped and hard to attach anything to. Does anyone have any ideas? I can't wait to do so much science with this.

Challenge : The most useless Launch.
MyNameIsNotPa replied to Shrike's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
I strapped 4 Omnipotent Berthas with C7 fuel tanks onto a default pod, turned the throttle up, and pressed space. I didnt do anything else to steer and ended up on a near perfectly circular orbit around the sun -
I have built an aircraft using C7 parts that deploys a UAV that flies on its own. At this point, I have balanced the UAV out enough that it flies very straight for about 30 seconds. Unfortunately it has a slight tendency to slowly roll to the right, where it eventually rolls too far and loses altitude. I have done my best to balance all the parts of the UAV, and I even can release it with the release craft rolled to the left a bit, but it is still rolling to the right. Any help or tips on how I can up the balance and keep it from rolling? I\'m pretty confused at this point. :-\ Thanks.

Thanks to a few tutorials, I can now build some competent planes! Here is my most thought-out and balanced one so far from the Furiengineering® line The Furiengineering 2T-1B (2 Turnin, 1 Burnin\') It\'s built for speed, capable of stable flight at over 200 m/s (that\'s fast). As it shows in the name, it has 2 top-mounted turbine engines (I wish) and one main rocket engine at the end of the hull. Flies great at full throttle and everything below. Go easy on the controls if you\'re not flying it full throttle. This thing is great. It\'s agile, flies straight fairly easily, etc. The only 2 things you should keep in mind: To launch it, you have to hold Shift, Space, and S at least until you clear the tower. Else, you\'ll crash into the tower and DIE. > And, land it very easily. It has a MINOR tendency to split in half if you land it bad. And never hit Space after you launch. That will cause big boom. 8) Craft file: (Scroll down to the text that says 'Click here to download your file', don\'t click the big fancy download buttons) http://www.yourfilelink.com/get.php?fid=747271&dv=1 Here\'s a few shots of it on my mission to Madikaskar. [YouTube] Mun Rover's Adventures
MyNameIsNotPa replied to deadshot462's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
This is a brilliant idea executed very well. Looking forward to getting my hands on a mun rover someday -
Made it on my second attempt at my friend\'s house. Super low on fuel, so I got really lucky. Thankfully, ONLY the rcs exploded when I landed with no landing gear.

How do I land on the Mun?
MyNameIsNotPa replied to qeveren's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
I\'d recommend not trying to use a parachute. -
Dear haters, notice the 'Spaceplane-LIKE' in the title. So, I was thinking of landing on the mun not with a traditional rocket powered lander, but in a similar way to a spaceplane landing on Kearth. Now I know the mun has no atmosphere, so wings won\'t work. Use RCS to simulate lift if you need it. Or, just point your ship up and boost to slow your descent, geez. Long story short: Land on the moon by gliding in. You can use any fair parts.

Challange: how low can you go
MyNameIsNotPa replied to sneakeypete's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
No thrusting below 70000 means no liftoff. -
Everything was going great, until I spun my ship around a bit to speed up my orbit... ...And my ship unceremoniously split into a lot of nice, drifting little parts. Kerbalkind, today is the dawn of a new era. We have a new world opened for us. : Looks like it's time for... THE DARK SIDE EPIC EASY CHALLENGE OF EPICNESS!!!!! Listen up, gentlemen! Boss says our major competitor, Derpal Space Program, is short on cash and has cut the line to their minefield on the dark side of our dear Kearth! We need you to conquer this new land! The dark side must be ours! I know what you're thinking, Bob! What do you do? I need you to build and fly a rocket that can take off from Kearth, enter orbit, fly to and land safely on the dark side of Kearth, then reenter orbit, then return within high-speed rescue boat range of KSP HQ! No, Jeb, they can use parachutes! Parachutes are allowed to assist in both landings, but if you use them we all know you're not a true thrillmaster. 8) I have an infinite fuel engine i wanna use it lolololol Get outta here, Kerbhead! Only Sunday Punch's, C7 Aviation, and that other pack that has something to do with donut research are allowed! Of course, using only standard parts is bonus points! Also, you will get super-bonus points for landing on the runway of KSP HQ with a spaceplane as your final landing! ;D I ALSO DEMAND A PHOTO LOG OF YOUR TRAVELS, GENTLEMEN. We will need something to show those poor Derpal Kerbheads! ;P Well, WHAT ARE YOU DOING, BOYS! GO GO GO! > Of course, there is a slight chance our info is wrong and Derpal didn't cut their lines. In that case, Kerbspeed, gentlemen, kerbspeed.
