  1. Already a proud and happy owner. Been blasting the link via STEAM friends. Have you posted on the Official KSP STEAM group as well?
  2. If you're playing self imposed hardcore (no F5/F9), easier to rationalize probe losses
  3. << Didn't have the patience to wade through all 61 pages, apologies if already mentioned >> 637. Black Holes 638. Terraforming 639. There is no "I win" button that gives me all the science, infinite money and resources and locks career mode so I can only play sandbox 640. Physics is all wrong. After seeing "Gravity" I now know I can line of site drive everywhere I need to go
  4. If you're new to the theory of Orbital Mechanics (like I was), it can be incredibly frustrating. I would suggest viewing Pebble_Garden's "Orbital Mechanics 101 Guide" in the "How To" Forum. He has a tutorial series called "The Phoenix Project". Part 1 shows you how to build a stable launch vehicle easily capable of achieving orbit. Part 2 shows you how to launch and achieve a stable orbit. Once achieving stable orbits becomes old hat, you can begin experimenting with your own rocket designs.
  5. Nice design! It's true, "Necessity is the mother of invention"!
  6. Right now I know everything relevant about each Celestial body from the wiki. Unmanned probes and landers would have more of a purpose if you sent them places to gather data about atmospheric densities, height, survey potential landing areas, gravity, rotational periods, etc from scientific exploration. Then follow up with more ambitious missions as your understanding of planetary specifics increased (your fog of war). But with only one vote I cast it for resource mining. That will personally push me to much more ambitious endeavors then I'm currently focused on.
  7. I followed Pebble_Garden's "Orbital Mechanics 101 Guide" in the "How To" Forum. He has a tutorial series called "The Phoenix Project". Not only walks you through step by step how to orbital rendezvous and master docking, but shows you how to build a stable orbiter and rocket to do it. For me, docking had by far the steepest learning curve.
  8. I have to admit I'm at the opposite end of the spectrum. I picked-up the game on STEAM and am just coming up on a one month anniversary. I've been slogging through the learning curve of orbital mechanics, interplanetary transfers, docking and other challenges that need mastering in this great game. I'm hoping to get to the point of being able to take advantage of resource mining when it first becomes available. I have to thank all the old-timers that while boredom of stock only features might be setting in, your posts, tutorials, and encouragement have enabled me to get this far. Am immensely enjoying KSP.
  9. Did a quick search for the nick "ThatNewGuy101". Found this pic: Bridge Troll, please don't feed...
  10. I was a recent forum member join so my post count was immaterial. What hurt the most was the forum downtime. This community is awesome and the lack of forum browsing somewhat flattened my learning curve.
  11. So far just Kerbal Engineer Redux and Protractor. Subassembly Save/Loader looks promising now that I'm planning more complicated missions and want to mate standard payloads to launch vehicles.
  12. You re-program your Android Navigator driving directions app to have maneuver nodes
  13. After I was comfortable circularizing Kerbin orbits, I sent probes to orbit the Mun and Minimus. Then I practiced docking around Kerbin. Then sent probes off to Duna, Dres, Eve and Jool to practice interplanetary transfers. Just got a rover on the Mun. Next are some landers I guess.
  14. Sadly yes. But glad to be browsing the forums again and grateful to the devs for all the hard work getting things restored.
  15. I saw KSP advertised on STEAM. Downloaded the demo and only tinkered with it for an hour or two before buying the full version. Totally hooked!
  16. Thanks Devs for all the hard work! Really missed visiting the forums while they were down...
