Take Two Interactive, the company that actually owns the IP rights to KSP. Of which @Just Jim is actually an employee, which makes it a slightly-less-than-zero chance at this point, but I think he just doesn’t have the time. And like @0111narwhalz said, there’d likely be other IP issues too. -

There used to be another, even longer, SpaceX thread not that long ago, but things happened and it got verschnickened. The one we have today is actually a new/rebuilt thread Still under the factory 1000-page warranty as long as filters are regularly changed. -

He’d mentioned previously using a different stainless, like that proprietary 30x on Cybertruck. Sounds like they’ve just been using what’s cheap and well-understood to find their feet before moving to the more advanced stuff. -

Also, this afternoon’s weather: sunny with chance of tweetstorms: (Musk is giving a talk at a conference, Starship is expected to be mentioned.) -

Can confirm, have two superheavy ducks that occasionally expel vast quantities of methane (among other things) from the exhaust port at extremely high velocity. -

I think Musk has said this is sort of what they want to do, long term. Roll of steel as wide as the circumference of the rocket, unroll/flatten it to the length of the rocket, then curl it the other way into a big tube with a single weld down the side, add bulkheads. He has specifically said that they’ll be using fewer and fewer ring sections as they move towards this. It would be a pretty significant piece of tooling but not unreachable. -

This is how they learn. It’s happened before: ‘Member how many times it took them to get booster landing right? -

I’ve seen chatter that the welds were suspect well before today, something about the machines being set wrong, and Musk already mentioned the welds on Deuce will be vastly improved. Saw some speculation that it might have been a failure in a feed line, too, since the big release came from the very bottom before the tank imploded. The upper tank was actually pretty strong, it took hitting the ground to finally cause it to rupture. -

Well, there’s the fact that they just bolted all that hardware on the outside in a very Kerbal way, and that apparently it will only have a single Raptor. It’d need all three for a 20km hop, and I don’t see the utility in a sub-20km hop. SN2 sounds like a significant improvement to the point that pushing SN1 may no longer be needed.
