Here's what I've recovered from the Google cache (plus my own entry - I'll happily keep updating it) Maching Bird Challenge I haven't seen a fastest airspeed/jetspeed thread, so I decided I'd start a challenge! The Maching Bird Challenge: How fast can you go on jet power? Rules: 1: Must be powered by jets only--no RCS, rockets, or ion engines allowed! 2: Must be stock! This means no mods (MechJeb is a mod), as they can lend an unfair advantage. The challenge is as much about personal control as it is about a fast jet! 3: Must make a horizontal runway take-off. 4: Picture of the plane in flight, and picture of the final flight log required. 4b: As of the 25th of December, 2012, all new entries must have a screenshot of their craft moving on the runway, as proof of rule 3. 5. Use of the dev console (for anything considering this challenge) is considered cheating. The speed is measured by the flight log's Fastest Speed Over Ground, as sub-orbital hops can net you a misleadingly high speed. Are you up to the challenge? Optional sub challenges: These will net you a seat as a guest of honour! Mach 6 club: Meet or exceed mach 6, or 2056.2 m/s (round to 2056 m/s) True Maching Bird: exceed mach 7, or 2402.4 m/s (round to 2402 m/s -- can it be done?)
