Holographic display's and the future of information viewing.
Latcarf replied to daniel l.'s topic in Science & Spaceflight
I normally lurk on this forum, but I want to log in and add my two cents. I'm a developer for the hololens, it's sitting next to me right now. The hololens experience is truly unimaginable. I read a lot of articles that amount to no more than speculation about the potential of high end holographic reality: a lot of them are superficial critiques of the barriers of entry (which is admittedly high). I can only speak for virtual holographic technology (hololens), but what continues to fascinate me is how wild-west it really is. There is a small community of us that are actively writing rules for this new-world because nobody in history has thought about how a simple menu should be displayed in open space. This blog post captures the awe that a lot of are feeling: https://hololensjournal.com/2016/09/24/defining-the-best-practices-for-hololens-welcome-to-the-wild-wild-west/ -
What if the drone ship was fitted with rockets on the four corners -- so that it could make contact above the waves and compensate for the wind in the same way the landing rocket does? ^^^ this is the best idea I've ever had.

The camera is probably shielded, correct? Depending on point of impact i suppose the sheer force could have broken that housing, and/or damaged/destroyed the antennae.

How activate ROOT permission in Samsung Galaxy S3
Latcarf replied to Pawelk198604's topic in Science & Spaceflight
I recommend rooting. It's a hassle to wrap your head around but there is a lot of fun stuff you can do including changing the boot animation/ boot audio (which is kind of silly but really cool, check out Tasker if you want to have some real control over android rooted or un-rooted). The S3 should be easy to root since so much time has passed. Strong word of caution for Samsung. I rooted my previous phone (S4) and due to KNOX, attempting to upgrade Android bricked the phone completely. Let me drill that in: DO NOT ATTEMPT ROOT IF VERIZON && KNOX IS INSTALLED. -
Almost two hours of GoPro footage from ISS EVA 30 and 31

This is incredibly cool, thank you for sharing -
It's the greatest tease in history. 'The one thing everyone wants to know about is happening at this actual moment... we'll tell you how it goes, tomorrow maybe.' - Elon Musk, probably - - - Updated - - - Sarah Cruddas @sarahcruddas · 42s 42 seconds ago Outcome still unconfirmed, but offical rumor is it hit the barge, but didnt land well.
-
Okay that is literally the coolest thing to see
-
Hey... i can see my house from here!
-
Thanks
-
Where is the barge located when not at port? A quick google search didn't tell me.

"In today's news, Elon Musk announces war against cloud formations that could potentially scrub his launches." - FOX News, probably

Well... until next launch window folks. Back to work.

The sound off may be my favorite part of a launch. Even though the actual liftoff is great, the buildup with listening to the chatter is bae.
-
This isn't a SpaceX launch
-
Oh. Hold at 4 minutes.
-
I'm so confused. What is 10:44EST and why is it at 6 minutes at 10:09EST?
-
Very cool, Kryten. Thanks.
-
Less than an hour until it reaches the Cloud Of Unknowing. Ey, superfastjellyfish?

So, is this our thread tonight? Haha. No really this mission is nutso. From what I gather, the Earth Scientists know that magnetic field reconnection happens, they know what happens when it happens, but they don't know WHAT happens when it happens WHERE it happens. Or something. I live in the lower part of SC, so it's not too far away from me. Considering my interests I'm surprised that I have never attempted to see a launch in real life. I've heard that it's life changing.
