  1. Good Evening follow space nerds.

Thought You knew a lot about rockets think again, I would recommend watching "Cosmodrome" on netflix, it talks about the Russian Moon Program, and how just the Rocket Engines was ahead of their time, the rocket may of not worked but just the talk about the engines is fascinating

Gas-generator cycle (Open Cycle) this is what most rocket designs are based off of

Staged combustion cycle (Closed Cycle) this is what the Russians came up with and if used would of been the most powerful rockets of the 1970's to 1990's

Expander cycle (Can be Open or Closed Cycle) most engines was open cycler till the 1990's when the Closed Cycle system was found out

Combustion tap-off cycle (Open Cycle) the Turbine feeds off the Combustion Chamber, This is used in the Blue Origin(Amazon) space program

Pressure-fed engine (No Cycle) these are what Apollo used to get to the Moon with, on both the Apollo Command/Service Module for the RCSService Propulsion System (SPS) engine, and Apollo Lunar Module for RCS, ascent and descent engines. These type of engines are used in most spacecraft as Reaction Control (RCS) and the Orbital Maneuvering (OMS) engines of the Space Shuttle Orbiter

  2. Do you see asteroids near Kerbin?

    Yes I do see them

Depends on what you're doing. In Sandbox the procedure for finding asteroids is the same, you need to track them from the tracking station in order to get them to show up in map mode, as far as I know.

Yes I did track some of them to see the orbit.

Now back to my question for everyone. Have you seen Asteroids near Dres?

  3. Hello my follow KSP players.

With 1.0 I saw in the patch notes

    Flight:

    - 'Warp To' action added to orbit context menu. Allows warping to a specific spot along your trajectory.

    - 'Warp to next morning' button added to KSC toolbar.

    - Asteroids can now be found orbiting near Dres.

    - Engine thrust now varies according to Isp and throttle setting, instead of the other way around.

I have been playing around in sandbox mode and have yet to see one around there. do they only spawn once a ship gets in to orbit ?

  4. Q&A with a moron (Me)

    Q. Is KSP dying?

    A. No

    Q. than why are people not posting on the forums

    A. people get bored with forums

    Q. why don't you post to forums

    A. half of what i say makes no sense

    Q. is there any way we can make more people to post on the forums

    A. no

  5. I try to play with only a few mods but i will look in to that, its just that tutorial that I linked REALLY help me out, I tried out some of the design stuff and I got a "trainer" type plane do a sub orbit of around 150 km.

The feel of being able to do that is beyond great. With some of the design ideas I will try to do something bigger.

  6. Funny story

I was playing another game, talking to a friend on Team-speak. I was telling him about my latest feat that i learned how to do by my self.

I made a ion probe with all the Science stuff on it, and was talking on how i made "Mars" orbit (yea yea its Duna, i called it mars so my friend knew what i was talking about) at about this time, other people started to join the team-speak, and listen to my story. I was using the terminology I learned from here, told them how i orbited its moon and came back too a low orbit around Mars.

at that time someone joined channel and started to listen, as I was telling I ran the calculations and saw I had Thrust-to-weight ratio higher than 1.25 and still had about 7000 ÃŽâ€v so I landed the probe on Mars, and also talked about how long it took to do it, a hour. and told them how happy I was when there was no broken solar panels. So the guy that joined in later thought I was a real rocket scientist, and started to ask questions about how things was done.

I was thinking he was asking about the game, started to answer his questions to the best I could, after second question I realized what he was thought I was, so going along with it I was able to get to the fourth Question before a few people could not hold back the laughter.

in the end we got a great joke out of it, and hopefully a new KSP player out of it

  7. i found i copy some real life things and others i just make up.

the OTV's are modeled off the of the a Apollo/Constellation style ship but that's about as far as i go. i do use parts i like through

as for landers i do use the apollo type landers but thats once i got a lab type space station around that planet/moon, other wise it a all in one ship

    Edited on

i would love to see them add more shuttle bay type parts that way SSO would be worth it

  8. The Poodle is a bad engine, if you're only interested in performance. On the other hand, if you want an engine that fits nicely in a rocket stack, it has a lot of potential as an upper stage and vacuum engine.

The real issue here is the high efficiency of the LV-T30 (and the LV-T45), when compared to other lower stage engines. It doesn't make any sense that small engines are more efficient than large engines for the same task, unless the goal is to annoy players with older computers.

Performance and efficient is what i look for in any rocket. its also what people in real life will look for when we start using more ships in space
Poddle got 2.5 degree thrust vectoring.

It's one of the highest values in a game.

That's a reason why sometimes you might want to use it instead of T-30 which doesn't have ANY vectoring at all.

i understand it has no vectoring, but i have not seen nor may understand why its used, when i am able to use the RCS
  9. Ok i got no screenies for you people to see

So heres how i built my ship

3 Man Mk 1-2 pod, docking port on top. 3 radial mounted parachutes on the Pod, 1 De-coupler, 2 1x6 solar panels 2 z-400 batterys

1 large SAS, 2 Roundifed Mono tanks, 1 X200-16 Fuel Tank, 4 RV-105 RCS units on or near COM

Wight of the ship should be 14.965

    now the engine's

    Rockomax Adapter #02 with the LV-T30. (Wight 1.33 - Max Thrust 215 - Engine isp 370 (vac))

    Dv is 2450.79

    VS

a Rockomax "Poodle" liquid engine. (Wight 2.5 - Max Thrust 220 - Engine isp 390 (vac))

    Dv is 2343.74

    -----------------------

using this and the numbers i have found out the poodle engine is useless for the most part onless your going to do a landing with a ship like that

am i the only one who thinks the poodle needs some love?
