  1. Wel, now we know what the Kerbals live of. From your letters, they nomnom m when you don't look (alt-tab).
  2. Perhaps the same way the first (tiny) rockets were used, as fireworks. But instead of converting them to weapons, like we humans did, they just kept developing bigger & bigger firework rockets, till one said: *Hey! We can get into space with this!* And voila, birth of the Kerbal Space Program! Edit: Capt'n Skunky seems to have a similar idea how they got to the Kerbal Space Program: Multi-purpose rockets
  3. This is indeed a very nice & helpful community, one of the best I'm aware of. Lurked for a long time, before registrating, as I kept interest in the game, only bought it recently however. Only other gamingforum with a nice community I know of would be the Egosoft forum (X-Series), coincidentially also a game with a steep learningcurve and plenty to explore.
  4. Really great movie, encompasses what spaceflight is about, and playing this game. To realize in a way our own dreams of a future where we live amongst planets, where we reach out together, and have fun and adventure while doing so.
  5. Really enjoyed reading the story. Liked the parts about the Duna colonyand their exploring. Also, the alien ship had a good design, looked threatening and very non-kerbal.
  6. Now you have your first challenge ahead of you! Go set up a rescue mission to pick up Jebediah from the Mun! Or end up with more stranded kerbals, so you got to launch several rescue missions to retrieve them all. And if that fails, just keep dropping landers and proclaim it the first permanent Mun base.
  7. Still learning orbit mechanics, but getting good at creating near perfect circular orbits, plan to estabilish a geostationaire satellite before sending something to the Mun (unmanned probe initially). Planning to wait to land somewhere untill we got the option to plant flags. Still got plenty to do before that. Edit: seems I'm the first person voting that hasn't reached the Mun yet and returned.
  8. Congratulations on landing on the Mun! I'm still in proces of stabilizing orbits around Kerbin.
  9. The music in that youtube does fit the dance of the winglets well. Got to say, looks like a funny but harmless bug.
  10. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_missions_to_Mars Here's an updated list, and yes, looks like your standard Kerbal approach to space programs. Also offers link to the individual probes, some of the errors are indeed kerbal-worthy (wong unit conversions like inches insetad of cm etc, too early-too late deployment of landing gear etc) In short, spacetravel is hard
  11. Congratulations Camopus on your achievement! it also looks impressive to behold. Nice to see you had two teams with you, a landerteam and an commandteam and managed to bring them back succesfully! I'm still in the process of shooting satellites in orbit.
  12. That's good news It's not serving a purpose now, so not meant to stay up. Cheers, I was proud of this, my first near circular orbit, only a few hundred meters difference from AP & PE. I could get things in orbit in the demo, but it was in elliptical orbits.
  13. Good day all! New here & just registrated. Did accidentally start two topics of me joining, before I read they had to be approved first, so hereby an apology to the moderators!
  14. I had lots of fun with the demo, so decided to buy this game. I was pelasantly suprised seeing how much more content the game had compared to the demo! A truly pleasant suprise. Beent rying to launch a satellite in orbit and managed to do successfully so today! Named it *The Herald of the Space Age* Here's a vew from it: Got it in a near circular orbit, thanks to the ion engine attached to it. I really like that engine for small course-corrections. Next projects are to bring a satellite in polar orbit & another in a geostationair orbit. I do have a little question, currently the second stage(debris) orbits Kerbin as low as 30 km, will it eventually get enough drag & crash, or will it keep orbiting? Has completed two orbits so far. Also a big cheer for the developers of this game, they managed to offer a wonderful & playable early acces game!
