anyone else getting wobble of doom? i have a stable setup that will launch just fine but ONLY when clicking launch while in VAB. if i try to restart the flight 100% of the time itll wobble to death. its even present on the Kerbal X (stock) albeit it doesnt kill the rocket. my rocket has 7 mainsails on the bottom and orange tanks and isnt able to handle it..... except on the first launch. had newest mechjeb installed, had the part off for the tests. and even saw the behavior on the stock rocket. 100% reproducible.

Escaping the Universe that is Ever Expanding
iRommel replied to drewbdoo2's topic in Science & Spaceflight
right after the big bang the universe expanded faster than the speed of light.... things werent traveling through space faster than light, but space was being created as the objects were expanding. this is probably why physicists insist warp drives are theoretically possible... because its already happened. as i understand it, the universe is not expanding at the same rate anymore. not that we've observed the edge of the universe.... so its just an idea. now.... to get the next part you need to understand that the universe is made up of the space/time fabric. basically when you enter a gravity field, the fabric bowls in towards the gravity making object. so basically without the fabric of space.... i dunno what happens, divide by 0 i guess. however, i'd gather than since we have mass, and any ship we take to try to get outside the universe would be massive (food storage, fuel, etc) the ship would be carrying its own space/time fabric with it. we would then be a droplet outside our universe, or a new universe or something. or maybe its impossible to cut the space/time fabric. when they discovered/proved the higgs boson, i read something somewhere that this particle is theorized to have a limited lifespan.... and since its the thing that gives things mass.... once the higgs stops giving things mass the universe will collapse on itself/dividebyzero. -
i had turned on fallback models or something in the settings before first try of .2 i just turned it off and the game is running much better for me.

its pretty bad for me... reduced all settings. happens when im at the launchpad and i swivel camera around. probably has something to do with loading textures. seems okish in space.

awesome, and if your tracking station has all ships or probes like mine did.... you can go to each thing and rename it and it will allow you to re-categorize it at that point as well.

Look at this plane that can take off with no thrust, fly, and land.
iRommel replied to warzone2455's topic in KSP1 Discussion
skimmed through your video and stopped at the velocity part. click on the velocity itll change it to surface velocity. if you have a target selected with more clicks itll change it to target velocity (essential for docking). these types of readouts change automatically so you dont normally need to manually change them. and yes, you are orbiting that quickly. Ill leave it to you to figure out why your velocity relative to orbit is rather high, while your velocity relative to the ground is rather low. -
Are you going to start a fresh save file come 0.20?
iRommel replied to michaelphoenix22's topic in KSP1 Discussion
http://wiki.kerbalspaceprogram.com/wiki/Planned_features parts written in blue are planned for the next update. seems like its really not that big of an update. seats are the only new addition, and the rest are useability features (which are very awesome and needed) oh and flags.... which dont excite me that much, although ill grant that thats a personal opinion, i can see where other people are excited for it. maybe the wiki hasnt been updated? -
Who Thinks A Subdirectory For Probe Parts Would Be Cool
iRommel replied to NeoMorph's topic in KSP1 Discussion
subset or filters would be awesome. parts fitting onto parts without first fitting them somewhere else would be awesome as well. and by awesome i mean.... it should already work like that. for example, click propulsion, then click on a part size. large, medium or small. then you get (large) mainsails orange tanks etc , (medium)aerospikes etc (small) ant engine, donut fuel tank. when i first started playing this game i literally had to dedicate serious time to looking at the icon trying to figure out some semblance of order.... and i think there is none. i have simply memorized where the parts are on the list. -
is there a specific reason people keep saying laythe would have radiation problems? Io has radiation problems because the gas it vents gets stripped by Jupiter and comes back to it as radiation. Since laythe is keeping its atmosphere, the Io radiation wouldnt happen to laythe. and it would seem that a planet having oxygen, but also having radiation problems is a better choice than say duna which has not enough atmosphere and no oxygen. bring radiation shielding, or bring oxygen? assuming kerbals breath oxygen..... maybe they are plant people.

Is asparagus the best staging system? (might contain science)
iRommel replied to Pbhead's topic in KSP1 Discussion
i used staged asparagus. basically its an asparagus rocket ON TOP of asparagus stages. so i have 7 mainsails at the bottom... 2 tanks drop off and expose 2 more mainsails at the middle of the rocket which then fire. the key is terminal velocity and TWR. i use mechjeb and i can see that this configuration keeps my rocket just under terminal velocity nearly the whole time minimizing loss due to gravity and drag because it moves quickly to get out of the air. my previous long asparagus rockets would drop off a stage and then would be rather heavy with 2 less engines. if i configured the rocket differently to have 9 mainsails firing at the beginning it would hit the terminal velocity and beyond. -
the hoffman maneuver is an attempt to has more cheeseburgers.

i might like something like an airfield.... like put the dirt runway thats on the island on kerbin, build one of those on laythe.

but what is the velocity based on? the body the vessel is currently orbiting? what about Oberthing while prograde around the earth AND prograde around the sun? (burning while periapsis is on the dark side of the earth) earth orbit speed plus sun orbit speed would that have less of an oberth effect than if you burned while prograde around the earth but retrograde around the sun? (burning while on the bright side of the earth) sun orbit speed minus earth orbit speed

what about simple multiple solar systems? like you go to the tracking center and select kerbol star. and you're in the kerbol system. then you could select Cream soda star and youre in a star system that might have a lot of cream soda on its planets. perhaps even a terran system and you're in a solar system that mimics ours.... although we'd need new rocket parts i'd imagine. so we could have multiple star systems with multiple configurations but no need to code in interstellar travel.

Centrifugal Stage Separation - anyone else do it?
iRommel replied to The Ideal Gas Lawyer's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Ive experienced that with one of my heavy payload rockets. I used I beams attached to the center tank that point out radially, placed in between the outer tanks. no explosions at all, even a few times while mechjeb was mid turn and staging at the same time.
