How Long Would A Space Station Last?

Couldn't you wrap the station in foil or something upon disembarking to protect against the sun? Micrometeors would still screw things up though. -

I have been playing and thoroughly enjoying the .25 update but there is one thing I don't fully understand yet: Reputation. So far I have only used reputation as a conversion currency for science and funds. How does it affect your career? Does having a high reputation affect the missions you are offered? I haven't noticed a difference here. Is it possible I am not seeing the payouts for individual missions change based on Rep? Just curious. It feels like this system would be well rounded out with an additional use for this resource. It would be super sweet if KSC got upgraded the higher rep you earn. You would have a real feeling of progression if statues and monuments started appearing around the flagpole as you complete missions.

Meecrob has it right IMO. I start a fresh game every version and when I started playing .24 it just felt...broken. I was capable of landing rovers on Eve and Duna but still was struggling to unlock the last 1/3 of the tech tree. .25 has introduced a flexibility to the system that allows someone like me to enjoy career mode. I agree that some of the conversions could be scaled back but doing this too much will ruin the fun and flexibility that this new system makes possible.

Scott Manley uses multiple Nuclear rockets in some of his designs. Thus I infer it is reasonable to do so in the right situations. All hail the Manley. -
Something interesting i learned recently is that you can recover Science data from 'debris'. I crashed a ship into the mountains near KSC that was covered with a bunch of goo cans. I was able to recover each goo can that survived and still get the science from them. Although Im sure this wont work for any part that has been destroyed.

I always make a fresh start every update. It will be the same this time. I just deleted all KSP related files.

I cant believe this! KAS is the one mod i think should be mandatory stock and i use it on almost every mission. Granted I may come up with reasons to use it since its so cool!

I feel like Hadfield did a lot to increase awareness of the existing space programs and technologies while he was on the ISS. I for one watched all of his videos I could find while he was making them up there. At the same time Ed Lu is helping construct a private deep space probe that is designed to protect the planet! If they can get it launched the Sentinel program may provide invaluable data even if it doesn't "save the planet" in our lifetime.

I will be donating to B612! Glad to see Squad active in its local community as well. -
With one Kethane ship you can produce all of the fuel resources including monoprop. I had the impression that Squads original resource system had all fuel types separated and would have required multiple rigs/mining ships to collect. This would get even worse if/when nuclear fuels are added. If you had different resources stretched between biomes it would be a major task to collect them all.

He has worked for NASA and Google and he is still going working on awesome projects! He is currently working on a program to Defend the Earth from rogue asteroids! I hope the Kon helped give a lot of support to his B612 foundation cause having him on was a highlight of yesterdays stream for me. So cool that Manley helped set it up. Ok a few things. I think there needs to be both Ed Lu and Chris Hadfield Kerbals added to the stock game. As they are my two hero astronauts right now. Ed Lu asked for asteroids to be added to KSP! Listen to him, i know they said asteroids would not be part of "Feature Complete". But it would still be AWESOME. Make sure Ed is on again next year!!

The original resource system that was described near the beginning of the year seemed overly complicated to me and my original impression seems to mirror what Harvester was saying. It sounds like it would add a lot of busy work and management without adding much actual gameplay. I am a big fan of the Kethane mod and i get the impression this is more the direction the group will take when they decide it is time to be implemented. Dont forget that they psuedo-confirmed female Kerbals in the last stream. Biggest Kon news IMO!

Yes! I want to see this! It would be awesome to start a new KSC at some point as well or gain control of the Komunist Space Center on the other side of Kerbin after meeting some goals! -
The birds

I would go the opposite direction and have them place birds in the actual game to represent what we hear at KSC. Flocks of 2d birds flying overhead would be super cool. Not sure if this goes against the "no aliens" rule. But having variations on other planets like Laythe would add a lot of spice to the game with minimal work.
