International construction ISS in Kerbal orbit.
Anthony Frushour replied to BobCat's topic in KSP1 Mod Development
The SPP was canceled after the Space Shuttle Columbia Accident back in 2003. And, the Multipurpose Laboratory Module (MLM) Nauka is (finally) schedule to launch on a Proton rocket in December after several years of delays. The Pirs docking compartment will be de-orbited with the next Progress to open up the nadir docking port on Zvezda to allow Nauka to dock. On an unrelated note I need to upload my photos from the ISS Flight Control Room in the Mission Control Center as well as photos of the Space Vehicle Mockup Facility where the ISS astronauts train. (Last week at JSC!) -
Component Space Shuttle V 5.0.1 (July 14, 2013)
Anthony Frushour replied to Cepheus's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
I'm also a little confused when it comes to flying. Is this meant to be flown without MechJeb? I'm having trouble getting the orbiter to Mir. I know there's the issue with the RCS; that may explain my problem with attitude control. Anyway, this mod is AMAZING!!!! I'm so excited to see the Space Shuttle flying again in some form. Replaying the launch over and over to relive my memories of the Space Shuttle Program. -

YEEEEEESSSS!!!! I've gotta go fly it! -
Old 0.20 save debate: Please close, mods.
Anthony Frushour replied to Naten's topic in KSP1 Discussion
NOOOOO! I'm glad the game's development is progressing though. I'm an aspiring planetary geoscientist; so I don't have hundreds of hours to play. I'm usually busy with classwork during the school year, research, or in the case of this summer my internship. I'll be extremely busy looking/applying for grad schools this fall too. I guess I will finish my Mir Space Station, and just play around as opposed to building things until the update. I look forward to all of the new features though! -

Awesome! That would make me excited as well! A fellow student from my university worked the private opening event last week as part of his time at KSC through space grant. (Even though its not mentioned in my signature I'm just an intern at JSC.) -
[0.22.X] BobCat ind. Historical spacecraft thread
Anthony Frushour replied to BobCat's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Yes, they are still using them for the Desert RATS field tests/tests at JSC, also apparently if your a co-op too. The LER was redesigned to be used on multiple missions after CxP was cancelled/re-purposed, hence MMSEV. It's all good. So, prez. wanted to completely cancel Cxp, and the Senate and House put up a fight. We ended up with a re-purposed Orion/MPCV and SLS, and the administration and Congress agreed to that. To be fair the Ares I had some major engineering hurdles that kept pushing back the first crewed flight, and Orion was way too overweight (a co-op told me it still is overweight but I don't believe him). SLS is a much more directly shuttle derived design that would have been much faster to get flying if we would have started with that design from the get go; the problem now is all the budget cuts Congress. -

Ahhh, you beat me to it! People at work were talking about this today. Anyway, I saw the MMSEV (Multi-Mission Space Exploration Vehicle), formerly the LER at work yesterday. -

As I recall from STS-130, the Cupola has a built in CBM. Of course in ksp that would be a separate part. -

They added a Power & Data Grapple Fixture on STS-134 on EVA 3 to the forward end of the FGB. Here's a cool pre-flight video about EVA 3: -

I'm assuming the solar panels being used on the Orion in here are from Lionhead? -

Got a tour of one of the buildings at JSC today. The Deep Space Habitat used by Desert RATS that was being developed for the Constellation Program. The LER was to dock at port #2 in the image. -

Sorry that I've been bothering you guys. I'm getting bogged down with internship stuff so I will have to go back to my Lunar rocks at work and wait it out. -

The constant redesigns were one of the contributing factors to why CxP was cancelled. This pack looks amazing. Hopefully I will get a chance to see the LER/SER and mockup Orion this summer. -

The SEV is designed to be part used for habitat and to be used for science. As I asked after a lecture at JSC last week, why go if you can't do science while you're there? -

Node 1 is too long in the pack (over 4m), it should be about 3.5 meters long using the 64% scaling from 5.47m; thought the model of Node 2 in game is ~3.5m. Which means Node 2 is too short. Node 2 should be ~4.6m long scaled from 7.19m. I posted on this before. I'd be willing to learn how to fix this if need be. -

Does he work at NASA Johnson? I'm working in the Astromaterials Research and Exploration Science Office (ARES) at JSC. Also, the idea of the MTV along with Bobcat's Ares 5 in KSP is just amazing. -
