  1. Just wanted to post to say how much I love the detail textures in the new update. I hope they can be made available from scaledspace, but even if not, this is a huge improvement while launching and reentering.
  2. I greatly missed terrain detail textures in the old EVE, so I was eager to try out this pack. I enabled the -force-d3d11 options on my KSP_64.exe shortcut, removed my existing scatterer, RSSVE, EnvironmentVisualEnhancements, DistantObject, and TextureReplacer folders, and installed ETO. Unfortunately, this caused load times to jump to about 10 - 15 minutes (during which time my computer became inoperable), slashed my framerates in half, and imposed an opaque shell around 70km above the Earth that turned it into a blue, featureless ball. Some performance issues weren't surprising, but I have a GTX 980 Ti, an i5-5960k processor, and 12 Gigabytes of RAM, so I wasn't expecting it to lock up my computer entirely (though admittedly I am running in 4k). If there are likely to be performance improvements in the future, then I eagerly await those. Otherwise, I'm probably going to have to stick with RSSVE. EDIT: As to the featureless sphere problem, I learnt that his was probably due to the change to DirectX 11. RSSVE comes with a fix for this in the form of a scatterer config, but I don't know if there is an equivalent for this mod. Regardless, the other issues unfortunately mean that I won't be able to use it for now.
  3. I am aware, but it is, in a sense, its successor, which is why I thought it might have it at first. Hopefully it will eventually, but I greatly appreciate the work that has been done on it so far.
  4. Aw, that's a shame; I thought terrain detail textures was perhaps RVE's best feature. Thank you for the help.
  5. I am not referring to terrain scatter; I'm referring to terrain detail textures. Here is a screenshot I took. Note how the city area is super high resolution, but the rest of the terrain is not:
  6. I installed this mod and it is, as expected, beautiful. My only issue is that I am not seeing detail ground textures outside of cities. Has this feature not yet been implemented, or am I suffering from some kind of bug? I can't quite tell from these screenshots.
  7. By the way pingopete, if you use OpenGL mode, then RVE shouldn't use up any RAM, so you shouldn't have to compress things so much. I installed the win32 branch of RVE, and had tons of memory left over. So I bumped the cloud detail level from 4 to 8 in the configs, and it looks way better, and I still have as much RAM left over.
  8. I downloaded the win32 branch Pingopete, and it looks amazing. I can't tell you for how long I've been looking forward to a working install. My only question is the following: the scatterer atmosphere seems kind of thick. Is there any way in a config file to make it less so?
  9. Thank you! I have been anticipating this for months, and am eagerly looking forward to its release.
  10. It was a couple pages back. Press alt-e and then hit "apply" on the launch pad.
  11. Those clouds look normal to me, but actually fly around in the game. The title screen doesn't give you a good impression. Pete hasn't really implemented much of anything for other planets yet, so that's expected.
  12. How did you get detail textures working in scaledspace? This is the one thing I can't seem to get working on Windows.
  13. What OS? Yeah, it's the windows version. I don't think I hit apply, so I'll try that out, though the only bug that is really a dealbreaker for me right now is lack of detail textures in scaledspace. Further Edit: I tried the "alt-e apply" thing and it seemed to fix the horizon going black issue, as well as the "giant translucent blue cube in scaledspace" issue.
  14. Sure! I tried to get nice looking screenshots where CRT tearing and lack of detail textures weren't so apparent, but honestly it looks amazing regardless. The clouds are especially awesome. Hopefully these can be appreciated by people with smaller screens.
  15. Just wanted to comment to say that I played KSP with RVE on a 4k monitor for the first time and it is pretty much the greatest thing I've ever seen. Keep up the good work.
