Hey Cupcake, that's a pretty cute n' spunky looking VTOL! I bet your Kerbalnauts will be zipping all over the place in their lunch breaks. The challenge probably specifies using stock parts, but I can't bear going back to using them due to the general fuggliness and lack of basic geometric parts for making things 'purdy'. If I can't make a craft functional AND stylish, I tend not to make it... I am pleased to say that I have just completed a VTOL challenge of my own though... With a VTOL capable plane made with the B9 parts I have just circumnavigated Kerbin It took about an hour and I spent most of the trip skimming the atmosphere between 22-33 km up. Top speed was 2150 m/s or so, which also makes the craft truly hypersonic. I had to stop Jeb from going on EVA so he could "touch the fiery stuff" outside the window. Boy, was he tempted. Most insanely, I used just over 200 units of fuel! (I guess the engines may be a little TOO efficient for realistic Kerbal-tech, although k/w wise they aren't over-powered). Definitely one of my most successful planes so far, although not the fastest. (I think some of my Sasquatch Marmalade "stealth" planes hit 2400 m/s). Have a look at the B9 parts - they include simple to use VTOL engines and you can have some fun with quick builds. They look pretty cool too.
