  1. Wiki's tend to be written by very experienced players for less experienced players; As such, they tend to make complex ideas seem elementary while being incredibly impersonal. This way average people can miss important information and leave more confused than before. By going to the forums you can put a question out there and get many answers, which you can parse into something you understand. Guys, I am not a mathematician or a physicist (and according to my spell-check after writing those two words, particularly great at spelling). I am willing to learn, however, and most of you have given me explanations. All of which were excellent and I am pleased to say that I'm leaving smarter than when I came. So thanks everyone. But I am a little worried about the height of the GSO, I've been positioning most of my craft around 150-300km. 3000km is a bit much to me. ALSO, I may have gone overboard with bold wording. I was a little drunk when I wrote that. EDIT: I have gotten some very useful information here, if someone could tell me how to change this to answered that would be great. If it's not possible, a mod is certainly welcome to.
  2. Since starting my career in astronomics and celestial physics, - just kidding I play KSP. Joking aside, I'm wondering if there's any special way to get into geostationary orbit in KSP. Googling that plus Earth have shown a very specific height you must reach to get to geostationary orbit(GSO) and you will automatically be in a GSO. My main question is why can't you have a GSO at any height, provided you've increased your speed accordingly? AND How can I reach a GSO in KSP? Bonus: What is the best way to modify an existing orbit to get it into a GSO? (I imagine you would need to pull the purple markers in your maneuver to "twist" the axis to be completely in line with the planets axis of rotation, then adjust speed to match the planets rotational speed at your current height (assuming you had a completely circular orbit)) Double Bonus: Best way to reach a circular orbit (I have a satellite orbiting with a wild orbit that I cannot seem to fix).
  3. Hello, I'm Dread...or that's what my friends call me. You can call me DreadedEntity. Unless of course we're friends (have we met before?). I've been playing KSP for about a week now and am delighted to say that I've found this game to be the epitome of "what could go wrong????". I have made my first orbiting satellite with a 2-stage launching system (gravity and air friction sucks!). I had decided to specialize in atmospheric aircraft when I first bought the game, but my first design failed and my second design had a center of lift issue that I could not correct and I got no help from the forums, either. So I'm a little discouraged but my ambition hasn't dampened! My next project is to build a massive orbiting refueling station or a Capital Ship like a carrier, complete with it's own refueling station and hangar. I play with a "group" of friends and we have our own teamspeak server for VoIP and I love to meet new people as I am co-leader. If you're interested in playing in an environment where many people are playing the same game and can share ideas and your conquests send me a PM and I can give you our address. (Microphone "kind of" required(we have a guy that usually only uses text despite having a functional microphone, pretty annoying.)) Sorry if I have many spelling errors or don't make sense what-so-ever, I am drunk.
  4. Hello, I am DreadedEntity. I've recently begun to use the Kerbal Space Program and I am liking it very much. I have decided to specialize in aircraft, both atmospheric and spacey...ic. Here are my designs (I currently have one): A2Mk2 "Interceptor" Designed in 2013 to be the ultimate solution to strike class aircraft. After 16 failed flight tests, a prototype was achieved that could fly (and land; although an extremely skilled pilot is necessary), and was put into production the same day. Nicknamed "The Deadliest Plane on Kerbal", as only 4 pilots have ever gotten to the ground with their bodies intact, their craft were less fortunate. The "Interceptor" can fly about a quarter around Kerbal to deal with domestic engagements. Note from project leader: Please note that the interceptor is an atmospheric vehicle. A maverick primadonna once tried to take her up to space and her air-dependent turbines failed before the 3/4 mark. He fell into an incredible spin and was only saved by the two outermost engines ripping off, allowing him to correct. He was able to make it back to the station before crashing and burning to death during the landing sequence. Specs: still calculating Ordnance: None The A1 "Devil" and the A2 "Interceptor" were both lost due to an unfortunate bug I am experiencing with saving craft. Like, they don't save. At all. If anyone could help me with that, that'd be great. I currently have a workaround by actually taking the autosaves, copying and renaming them, then opening them in a text editor and editing the ship name on the first line. But this is extremely tedious, and I am lazy. A save function should actually work. Also, I'm having an issue with her wanting to return to the ground as her center of lift is off. If someone could help me fix it that would be awesome because I know like all of my aircraft will have center of lift issues.
