Another from the BSG Skunkworks. Fleshy Humans beware. This has taken about 6 months worth of work to get the Aero model to something that will fly stably and work in space as well. Cylon Raider space superiority raider, SSTO capable, seats 2 humans. Has 2 seats, red light, and cargo bay wings to add extra endurance tanks, equipment, missiles, or what have you. Flys nice too. Available here. https://kerbalx.com/atassiedevil/Cylon-Raider Enjoy! -

Another of mine. Mig31 Firefox. Flies pretty well, silly TWR, silly manouverability. Lots of fun to fly though. https://kerbalx.com/atassiedevil/MikoyanGureyvich-MiG-31-Firefox-Mk2 Yes, this is the aircraft from the film Firefox. -
totm june 2018 Work-in-Progress [WIP] Design Thread
atassiedevil replied to GusTurbo's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
So i built this, which is stock apart from tweakscale and potentially the OBIOZur welding mod, so the part count isn't too horrendous. It's a full scale Battlestar Valkyrie, which is the pocket battlestar from the Galactica series. 650m long. I've put it up on kerbalX here, https://kerbalx.com/atassiedevil/Valkyrie but commented that it is work in progress so people don't get all upset n stuff as it currently doesn't work. It has launch tubes, full working airlocks (courtesy of scaled inflatable heatshields), and enough storage in the flight pods for 24 Vipers, a bay in the center body for plenty of raptors and steathstars, as well as the blackbirds from my hangar which are all to scale and all on kerbalx here. Both the Mk2 and Mk7 Vipers will fit in the tubes as will the Blackbird, the Steathstar will have to be bay launched as you'd expect. https://kerbalx.com/atassiedevil/craft Been trying to use the OBIOZur Welding mod, so i can reduce part count. (basically so it wont lag to death and tear itself apart when you try and do any manouvering) I'd like to weld the body in one big part, minus the engines and airlocks, so part count is minimal and it functions. I can then add the engine pods and airlock bits. This isn't working too well as you can imagine. It crashes on launch and i don't know what "symmetry mode" in the OBIOZur Welding mod i should be using, so it could be as simple as that. It'll also need more reaction wheels or RCS to do actual manouvering. Can anyone see what i am missing here? If i can get this to work it'll be epic. I'll then try and build a galactica and pegasus. So another BSG themed ship. This time the StealthStar. It will do SSTO and is quite simple and easy to fly. https://imgur.com/4xhioJY.jpg https://imgur.com/6Nt7O9l https://imgur.com/Lx0PyH4 https://imgur.com/AuVLqfY https://imgur.com/qt1DqqE Easy enough to get to orbit, climb to 12km, drop the nose, accellerate past 400m/sec and climb out to Orbit. F1 toggles Rapiers, F2 toggles Puff engines for more boost. Hosted on KerbalX here. https://kerbalx.com/atassiedevil/StealthStar Enjoy and comments are welcome! -

Like that a lot, mine is a little more versatile in terms of being multi role, and able to carry extra stuff, but i'd say yours looks far more "pure". I've been trying to build a Galactica myself, but even a half scale one at 700m long is a bit too hard to get up in the air and keep in one piece. I'm still working on that though and i think i have most of the other BSG craft down pat. (as you can see here) (Viper Mk2 and Mk7, Cylon Classic Raider, and Mk2 Raider, Raptor, Heavy Raider, and of course the Blackbird.) -

A few of mine. These are all multirole SSTOs from the Battlestar Galactica series. The Raptor and Heavy Raider can carry cargo, science, passengers etc, and can do short takeoffs and landings with the rapier engines. All hosted on my KerbalX account here. https://kerbalx.com/atassiedevil/craft Heavy Raider Raptor Viper Mk7 Blackbird Cylon Classic Raider Viper Mk2 Cylon Raider Mk2 -
This is a stock clone of the Cylon Heavy Raider from the reimagined Battlestar Galactica Series. It’s heavy at 182 Tons, but will manage Orbit and Return to KSC without difficulty. It is difficult to fly in atmosphere as the offset cockpit means it will pull to the right on high G turns. You have 3 large Docking ports. 2 External, one internal. 4 Medium Docking ports, 3 internal, one external. 1 small external docking port. (This should allow you to dock crew containers, equipment, extra fuel tanks etc to allow multi role operations) 4x Aerospikes should allow STOL landings, or VTOL from most moons and solar bodies. To achieve orbit, reach 12,500m altitude, put the nose 20 degrees down and accelerate past 450m/sec, and slowly pull up. You should aim to be accelerating and level no lower than 6,500m. Climb out to orbit. Engines are manual toggle, so throttle completely back when airbreathing mode stops, and apply throttle in stages, so the craft does not flip end over end. Extend out to orbit, and have fun. Action groups are. Toggle Rapiers between open and closed cycle. Toggle Aerospike Engines for landing mode. Toggle Rapiers on and off. BSG Galactica Cylon Classic Raider
atassiedevil replied to atassiedevil's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
Now updated to version 1.01 to cure it shaking itself apart when docked. -
So, i finally managed to refine and deliver the Raptor. NOTE :- while it has a lift engine, game dynamics will not allow a craft of this weight or size to do VTOL to orbit from Kerbin. You CAN use the aerospike engine for assisted short takeoffs and landings, and to visit the smaller moons etc. It is an SSTO, so wil achieve orbit and return to KSC. It has pretty much every science option you can expect, seats 6 as expected, and also has a grapple, and three docking ports. Action groups are as follows. 1. Toggle Rapiers between open and closed cycle 2. Toggle Twitch engines 3. Toggle Rapiers on and off 4. Toggle Aerospike on and off 5. Toggle SAR lights on side of ship 6. Toggle nose lights 7. Toggle internal cargo bay lights. To reach orbit, reach at least 11km, drop the nose and engage the twitch engines once past 300m/sec Accellerate to past 410m/sec and turn off the twitch engines. From there orbit should be easy. Hosted here on KerbalX https://kerbalx.com/atassiedevil/Raptor

BSG (Battlestar Galactica) Blackbird
atassiedevil replied to atassiedevil's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
Thanks guys! I just posted another one, probably the most complex craft yet, of the bunch. As always, you're flattering me. I just like to see fellow fans enjoy themselves. I think adding the multiplayer and weapons mods to these ships could be quite a lot of fun. -
Ahh, you want this don't you? Since you mentioned it i've been working on it. Wasn't particularly easy either, not with the level of detail required to keep it looking authentic, as per the Pierre Drolet Model. It's hosted on kerbalx, and i hope you enjoy.
-
A stock copy of the Pierre Drolet designed Classic Raider from BSG Razor. http://www.pierre-drolet-sci-fi-museum.com/vintage-cylon-raider It's heavy at 72 tons and requires work to achieve orbit, but it will make orbit, and return to KSC just fine. Get to 12k altitude, drop the nose, at 300m/sec approx engage the twitch engines, and once you're past 400m/sec turn them off and climb out. It does wobble heavily when docked, due to the high part count, and the nature of construction, so be advised. If anyone can help cure that with me, feel free to advise! Action groups are as follows. 1. Cycle RAPIERS between closed and open cycle. 2. Toggle RAPIERS on and off 3. Toggle Twitch engines on and off. 4. Toggle Puff engines on and off. Hosted here on kerbalx https://kerbalx.com/atassiedevil/Cylon-Raider-Mk-1 Enjoy, and comments are welcome.

Here's another re imagined ship from the series, as i am trying to do all the fighters from the remake. Hosted on kerbalX here. https://kerbalx.com/atassiedevil/Blackbird It's not particularly manouverable as expected, but boy can it shift. Pull nose up on takeoff all the way down the runway as it will try to shimmy and crash. Be aware if your're taking off from KSC and landing without reaching orbit you'll need to burn off sufficient fuel to land it safely. Fuel burns off from the front tanks first so you can get the nose up to land it. Aim for 50% fuel or less and you'll be able to flare a landing nicely. Switching to closed cycle burns fuel off at a massive rate, so this will help. It's just like the Blackbird in that it has 4 engines, and is stunningly fast in a straight line. Get your corner speed correct and you can sustain a Mach1 turn easy. It's heavy at 50 tonnes, but 4 engines make up for it with plenty of push. There are my usual refinements. Probe core for unmanned flight, Docking ports (1 standard, 1 small) and landing lights, as well as a crew ladder and an antenna. Action groups. 1. Toggles Rapiers and intakes. Enjoy!
-
Another stock ship for you from the BSG universe. This time a Galactica Viper Mk 7. Very much the same setup as my Viper Mk2. Little harder to fly it though. It has 2x Docking port, and a grapple to dock to other ships. Action groups are as follows. 1. Toggle Rapiers and intakes to closed cycle/back to air breathing. 2. Toggle Rapiers off/on 3. Toggle Puff Engines 4. Toggle Grapple. As with the Viper, Keep 5-10 deg angle of attack til 12k alt. Drop the nose and accelerate past 400m/sec and then let the craft nose come up on its own. Deploy puff engines as required, or use them as boost to chase down Cylons. Have fun.
-
Clone of Viper Mk2 from Battlestar Galactica Will do SSTO and return to KSP. Has probe core and 5x Docking Ports to enable external tanks, equipment packs It also has a Grapple to dock to the side of ships, due to the lack of magnetic skids. It's extremely sensitive on takeoff, so adopt 5-10degrees angle of attack and leave it there, otherwise you won't get the nose up again and achieve orbit. 2x Puff engines will give extra boost to chase down raiders etc. Action groups as follows. 1. Toggle RAPIERs/Intakes between air breathing and closed cycle 2. Toggle rapiers on and off 3. Toggle Grapple 4. Toggle docking port 5. Toggle Puff engines Handles like a jackrabbit, and is easy to do high angle of attack manouvers with lower fuel. Craft file is here on kerbalx https://kerbalx.com/atassiedevil/Viper-Mk2 Enjoy!

I'm working on a mk 1 raider too. Be patient
-
Built this because i'm a massive Galactica fan and no one had seemed to get anywhere near close with this one. Screenshot 1 Screenshot 2 Screenshot 3 Craft file is hosted here, on kerbalx. KerbalX hosted craft file and description. The aim was SSTO, with enough fuel to make a return to the KSC, stupid amounts of manouverability and as close to a stock look as i could get with standard parts. I think it turned out pretty well. I've a Viper Mk2 that does the same job and is equally capable as well. Will post seperately. Obviously with something with wings so far forward, Aero is a massive compromise, but it does fly well enough to land the thing. Heavy though at almost 51 Tonnes. Bind all intakes and R.A.P.I.E.R mode switch to 1, R.A.P.I.E.R toggle on/off to 2, and the smaller Twitch engines to 3. You'll need the smaller engines to push the R.A.P.I.E.Rs to the point they can make decent power and take over, this is about 400m/sec peak, then turn them off again. You can use them in orbit as they're a bit more efficient but i don't think you would somehow. (or just use them as extra boost to chase down that viper) You can fly this manned, or unmanned, as its got a probe core and a cockpit. It also has a docking port at the rear, if you ever got adventurous enough to try and build a Base Star. Enjoy.
