Have you considered using a Kerbal Multiplayer Server to do this?

I hate to post anything that is not specifically an answer to the challenge, but I built a colony ship in LKO that I was going to use to land a grand total of 32 kerbals onto the surface of Tylo, but while circularizing my orbit, I brought my perigee a bit too close to the planet, blowing up only half of my ship on the side of the planet, and losing 16/32 kerbals. Needless to say, I was unable to land at this point, but I figured this story was relevant enough to post. and in case anyone cares, the colony ship's assembly took a total of 17 launches (not including failures)

I've easily made it to Duna/Eve and back with plenty of fuel left over without using nuclear engines. But when it comes down to it, waiting for the transfer period is much more excruciating than waiting for the burn to finish. I simply play in windowed mode and watch YouTube while I wait.

Ha! I have yet to find the fabled Wernher Von Kerman, although I hope I do soon!

Personally, I like the old mechjeb better. Would there be any possibility of an update to it? When I put it on my KSP games, most of the parts bug out and no longer work. It seems mechjeb 2 overcompensates and tends to wobble around when attempting to face a certain direction. Also, it is absolutely terrible at ascent autopilot.

Not necessarily. If your drop tanks are done by way of docking ports and action groups instead of decouplers and staging, you could have new drop tanks ready in orbit and install them with an RCS tug. not completely impossible. I do actually believe it would be possible.
