  1. Well done nli2work! More variety, larger or smaller, would be MUCH appreciated in the air breathing engine department, but, this thread specifically pertains to 'large' turbofan engines... or i suppose air breathing, high thrust, high bypass, non rocket engines. I understand they're a niche as they would really only be meant for large spaceplanes demanding high thrust, possibly only on Kerbin. As such, a product like this is probably low priority at this point but if there is a spaceplane specific update / expansion planned, I feel it would make an excellent addition to that. Great feedback though everyone, and all opinions welcome!
  2. Hi! I like building large cargo planes that can haul the heaviest / largest KSP components to other airfields, but, I've noticed there's a distinct lack of powerful air breathing engines to make this task easier. Actually, there arent ANY fan / propeller based engines at all. According to the Wikipedia, the GE90 family is the largest / most powerful turbofan to date with the GE90-115B putting out 568.9kN of thrust (world record). Proposing that a similar, large turbofan engine, be added to KSP for us 'spaceplane' fans
  3. Main reason for all the structure is 1: support for the jumbo weight (especially if i do 12) and 2: gives me a place to put all the wing panels! 12 Jumbo's = 432 weight so I'll need about that many wings hahaha *sigh*
  4. Hi errbody! Firstly, I search for a similar thread and didnt see one so im making a new post =P I wanted to see if it were possible to make an effective lifting wing with camber (the best kerbal scientists can provide any how). What I was thinking involved a lot of wing panels (and lift hopefully) so I aimed for a cargo plane that could haul a Jumbo 64 fuel tank... the heaviest thing in KSP! For no other reason than awesome I decided to try and make Boeings X-48 BWB concept plane to test the idea!! Also, only using the jet engines and seperate fuel, the Jumbo is cargo only Frame concept Wing outline Wing internal structure Changed/added structure & engines / gear Added fuel and some skin First rendition complete!!! Final version (yes, the underside looks just as awesome) It flies!!! The best I could get out of it was 19k alt and 850km/h Why is it always dark!? Boeing X-48 model: http://kerbalspaceprogram.com/bwb-heavy-lifter-prototype/ Greats success! Next project? BWB that fits 12 Jumbos! and I'd attach the save file but idk how AND I tried posting the screens but that didnt work either.. so you have links now 8( (NVM! thanks Hodo!)
