[1.1] BDArmory v0.11.0.1 (+compatibility, fixes) - Apr 23
HQtopgun1 replied to BahamutoD's topic in KSP1 Mod Development
Oh wow, I feel incredibly stupid. Turns out I was still running KSP 1.0.2 and the launcher didn't tell me that there was an update... So yeah, reinstalling KSP fixed it. I thought the engine effects were just a mod that everyone was using... -

I've already done that, as can be seen in a recording I've made of the issue: Edit: Fixed. -

Really? According to the description of the AIM-9 it says that it's heat seeking, not radar guided. Regardless, even trying it with a radome (in boresight) didn't allow it to lock on. I've tried using them in a different save file, but that also didn't fix anything. Maybe reinstall KSP? Edit: Fixed -

I've tried reinstalling BD Armory but it didn't seem to work. Could it have to do with them being slightly obstructed? They are sandwiched up against an AIM-120, as you can see in the video: Edit: Fixed -

I've been trying to lock on with them everywhere from less that 500 m to 2500 km. -

This may be a stupid question, but do the Aim-9 missiles require any additional hardware other than a weapon manager to work? Because they are refusing to lock onto any aircraft, even after holding the target in the HUD for several seconds at a time. It probably isn't a problem of the target not putting off enough heat either because the aircraft I'm trying to take down has 4 turbojets at full throttle. -
If I recall, the actual direction of the control surfaces does not matter because the animation is completely aesthetic. This is probably going to change in the next update with improved aerodynamics, but right now with the primitive aerodynamics the direction does not matter, they just produce small amounts of thrust in whatever direction that corresponds to your input.

I was thinking after horribly crashing a spaceplane due to unbalanced fuel draining, that small counterweights could be implemented as radial tanks that hold a dense fluid. And the amount in each tank could be manipulated through tweakables. In flight, you could also set up and action group or just begin manually pumping the fluid between the tanks (increasing/decreasing their mass) to deal with unbalanced fuel draining.
-
Until the aerodynamics model is updated to be more realistic, I think it would be a good idea to have another option to display the center of force applied by drag at certain velocities along with the center of mass, lift, and thrust. This way it should be easier to judge if your rocket is going to instantly flip out due to, say, a large amount of very small parts on top of a tall lifter.
-
So when you say "lack of planned features" you mean only the features listed on the planned list, right? The devs so far have not released a complete roadmap of all the things that will be implemented throughout the updates, and the planned features list is only a small amount of what will actually be in the game.

Me: "Okay, I'm thinking of starting another mission to Jool." Bob: "For the eleventh time, stop trying to make a Jool landing happen. It's not going to happen."

8/10 Cool image, and points out the true origin of Dres.
-
Just charge it with this.
-
Always be sure to put winglets, or for larger payloads, swept wings w/ control surfaces near or at the top of your rocket. This will make it easier to control the rocket, reduce drag, and make it more stable.

I was doing a thing for the weapon image thread.

Suddenly, after it clears the tower: (Gif's are acceptable, right? They better be, you have no idea how much effort went into just this...)

HOCgaming's THAT'S NO MOON! Base - Craft Submission Thread

Here is a shuttle that can carry 7 kerbals at one time, and has horizontal and vertical thrusters. Here are some notes for when you are flying it: -You will tend to pitch down slightly when you are in VTOL mode -After pressing space, the action group 1 will toggle between VTOL and horizontal modes. FTE-600 Decimator (Fighter aircraft)
HQtopgun1 replied to HQtopgun1's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
Because this design was a (minor) success, I'm starting construction on the FTE-600 B. -
The FTE-600 has no real purpose, however I find it quite entertaining to try to shoot some of the debris that slowly begin to accumulate around KSC. It is mainly supposed to look cool and fly well, but as I said, useful for getting rid of debris. Things to take note of: -It has a functioning abort system (tied to the abort action group.) -The missiles tend to follow exactly prograde, not where you are pointing. -70 m/s is takeoff velocity. -Don't pull up too rapidly on takeoff, you could clip off the entire tail (s.) Download: http://tinyurl.com/clms74h ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ The FTE-600 B is a bit more clunky, however better with gliding with a larger wingspan. It is a little better with long range flight with less throttle needed to keep it up in the air. I also prefer it for airstrikes because of the larger amount of drag, adding up to better deceleration. Download link: http://tinyurl.com/kpq2scf
