Strangely enough, when I try to launch a rocket with KWRocketry installed it immediately crashes and I have no idea why. It doesn't freeze or anything beforehand.
-
I knew that hoping for things to go according to plan was too much. Great chapter!
-
Well, WHERE is it?
-
I wonder when Macey will make a public announcement about the new project.
-
I personally enjoy seeing things that happen off-screen. It gives some nice context as to why something is where it is, and of course gives us some more cool pictures to look at.
-
This is such an emotional rollercoaster. Despite it being a realistic story, I hope for a 'good' ending. Think Mass Effect style; you can't save exactly everything, but the losses won't overshadow the victory.
-
Are you saying that BERTY encountered a paradox that messed with his logical unit?
-
Doesn't anybody know that too many secrets in a small space cause insanity? Really, if they just declassified the mission to the rest of the crew on their way to Duna, none of this would have happened. Yes, visiting other worlds is awesome, but possible alien contact? That would be the real glory for Kerbalkind...
As for BERTY, he mentioned the first law, but what about the Zeroeth Law? He can't allow harm, physical or otherwise, come to humanity as a whole, or simply as a group larger than the aggressors, through action or inaction. In short, with Rozer taking over and zapping Jeb, wouldn't he see this as wrong and do something about it?
He did see this as wrong, and did say to Rozer that he was confused; the violation of First Law conflicted with his ethical circuitry and caused a system reboot.
-
That bastard......I hope he'll slowly die from asphyxiation on Duna. So BERTY was more or less innocent and orders were conflicting even with his ethical 'views.'
-
polish it a little
I see what you did there.
-
This anticipation is driving me crazy! Not saying it's not good, just that it's making me mad. I want to punch Mission Control, Rozer and every one of them in the face! WHY WON'T THEY TELL US WHAT'S GOING ON? MY HEAD FEELS WEIRD, I WANT ANS....
-
Wonder if Mission Control did put in safety killswitch in case the AI goes haywire...Just checking. Just in case.
-
I think we gave it ideas...
Oh crap. ABORT, ABORT.
-
BERTY can't control the Kerbalnauts' suits in any way....Right? -
Second chapter today....I'M LOSING IT MAN, I'M LOSING IT. -
Hnnnng, my feels weren't ready. Just in case I blame everything on the new guys. I BET someone will die trying to fix the cooling system.
-
Next chapter already? I'm not ready for this! Great chapter, Bill finally managed to pull out part of that stick up his ass.
-
Great chapter! I like the 'Are you my mummy line.' Brings back creepy memories.
And I think it's fairly unlikely that those probes will go bat****-insane. They are overseen by two AIs and a human control, besides, they have quite primitive behavioural circuits it seems (so far). I think this will actually be successful.
-
Great chapter! I had a feeling that the 'new generation' will mess up and cause terrible consequences due to them being indoctrinated or lack of empathy. I don't like some of them.
-
There is a thin line between genius and madness.
-
You always aim for an overkill, don't you Zekes?
-
Don't fail me now, Kapella!
-
I suspect that **** will hit the fan no matter of the location since I expect conflict between Jeb & company and the 'indoctrinated' kerbanauts.
-
^The only reason it happened was because he was overtaken by jealousy and pride, abandoning reason. Of course we will mourn him but it does not mean that he had no part in his passing.
And dayum czoklet, I had no idea you're polish (totally haven't noticed it on the profile thumbnail)!
Niezwykle ciekawa opowieść, nie mogę się doczekać następnej części! Dobra robota!

Insertion Burn with/without Ike Gravity Assist
Aerobraking was often very dangerous, both to Proteus and Kadmos; once they enter the atmosphere the ship could fall apart for all we know. When they use fusion engines they at least have some safety measures that would terminate the burn; also, they have control over deltaV unlike in case of aerobraking. Additionally, Ike gravity assist can provide savings of several hundred m/s as well, reducing the length of the required burn and thus reducing a chance of potential malfunction.
