Thanks for the info everyone! Klesh, I was looking at your pictures in your sig, you have one "preparing a flyby of Vall on the way to Jool", are those stock graphics? I turned mine all the way up (I thought) but those look really good, is there a nice texture/shadow mod or something? Thanks!
-
Yeah I remember the 10K and turn, that's what I've been doing, and like I said..its bad. I appreciate the info, I've been running into heat issues on the way up, and getting completely fried on the way down, I think I need more shallow re-entry trajectories. So things have definitely changed. but like I said, been having a blast.
-
So I put a few hundred hours on KSP back in the day (almost 2 years ago now?) and I finally came back, been having a blast with the career mode. BUT I'm having trouble orbiting efficiently, I'm burning way to much fuel for what I'm doing.. So assuming physics have changed a little and/or aerodynamics, what is the efficient launch trajectory? Thanks! - - - Updated - - - Side note: haha looking at my forum join date it was almost 2 years ago :S

So I don't know what dark rock I've been living under... or maybe its just not common knowledge.. But I just found out about Star Citizen the other day, and it looks amazing! If you haven't seen anything about it, go to their main website and watch the video. Scott Mansley also has a few videos talking about it. The only downside I see to the game? it might melt my $3000.00 computer.... but then again, so does KSP with more then 400 parts...

C-7000 in atmosphere heavy cargo lifter [warning! img heavy]
Dewm replied to Dewm's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
Yikes my bad! (still new to the forums) and forgot we had a spacecraft section.. As far as laythe... Like I said.. its completely stock (I don't even have mechjeb) so actually lifting this into orbit would be quite a challenge I think. My guess is its around 40-50 tons. -
You sir.. should go back and actually read the thread, and the multiple times I said "I WAS BEING SARCASTIC!!!!!!" Sarcasm is "a sharp, bitter, or cutting expression or remark; I would LOVE for KSP to have these graphics.. but anyone with an IQ over 5 would know this game/engine just couldn't handle it.. So just enjoy the picture, and next time read before you type.
-
haha this wasn't even supposed to be about graphics, I just thought it was an awesome shot, and I added in some "sarcastic comedy"... or so I thought.. But since everyone wants to talk about graphics.. it WOULD be nice to have some more particle effects.. something to look at. and for those who can't run it.. just have a slider option.. or a "on and off"... easy nuff.
-
No need to defend the game here, not only was I being sarcastic (because that is a real pic) But honestly it looks exactly like KSP, (just a HD version) orange tanks... shoot they even have struts XD
-
We need these graphics XD (side note.. that's of a recent launch of a U.S. "classified payload")

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!! THIS!!! I keep my main volume at 11% Everything is fine.. except when I crash into water.. sometimes it almost blows my speakers.. No joke.. really needs to be worked on.

First trip to the North Pole. Check out my hyper jet :D
Dewm replied to Dewm's topic in KSP1 Discussion
In the screens it only shows 900m/s, and top speed was around 1100m/s. But then I added 2 more intakes on each side and top speed was 1500m/s no cheats or anything. -
So I would say this is my first real good long distance airplane.. 100% built by me.. probably not an original design.. but still. top speed was 20,000meters going 1500m/s! (I was impressed) Goes from kerbal base to north pole in around 10 minutes.

So I've been messing around for awhile trying to build a C-130ish cargo plane.. and I need to build a hallow fuselage.. So I decided to use "wing connectors" And I think i'm getting some really weird aerodynamics off of them.. but I'm not really sure.. Can I do this? is it stupid? will it work? which end on the connectors are lift? the smaller ends? heres a pic of what I have so far (pretty damn crappy) (don't laugh to hard)

Title pretty much sums it up. I'm thinking of designing some sort of a space tug, but I'm wondering how much they can pull? thanks! Side note: can you set up certain engines on and off via the action groups?
-
Haha thats AWESOME!!!!!!!! thanks!
-
ahhhhh gotcha. Thanks!
-
Is that larger or smaller then a parcek?

I think a flag with Teemo from league of legends would be sweet. If someone wanted to give it a go.. maybe put "Dewm" somewhere on it.
-
I would prefer less loading screens with maybe longer loading time. like a 30+ second on the game load..and then no loading switching from hanger etc.. as it is its very annoying.. I build something.. load it into runway (wait 15-20 seconds) find out it doesn't work.. go back to hanger (10 seconds) tweak it slightly.. and rinse and repeat.

^in this video he's turning the middle "turbine" with what look to be the fold up stock landing gear... But I don't know how he makes it turn? like...the landing gear isn't powered and doesn't have motors. How'd he do it?

Slow FPS, lag and other limiting factors of Kerbal..
Dewm replied to Dewm's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Hahah watch what you say about ,my ancient dinosaur... I can run ANY new game at full quality with a good 60fps.... So do I expect a decent 30fps from this game? Yes... Yes I do. And except a newer GPU my system is still top of the line. Sure its a version or two behind in architector....but any well programmed game runs off of the GPU not the CPU. -

The first part of your post is really only proving his point.... No one is playing on a ti-81, and using that as an example is absurd.. In my case, my PC is 2.5 years old.. But its still better then 99% of consumer PC's.. I think this is a great game.... I just don't want to see limitations down the road because of poor programming now. You think its to late to do anything now? Just wait another year when they have that much more in the game. -

Dewm replied to Dewm's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Waste of time even responding to this nonsense.. but what the heck, its friday. quite a few people have already posted a "workaround"... a multi threaded plugin for unity.... can't squad program one? But no, its not the responsibility of the people actually reaping the rewards of this game (the money).. this actually cracks me up the more I think about it.. here is what you are saying. Squad can't optimize the game and there are no work arounds.. unless Dewm ports a good physics engine to work as a Unity plugin. So what your telling me is.... ----> Squad can't do it then ----> tells me logical way of doing it. is squad not capable of logic? .....like I said before, the problem is they are spending their time on "fluff" like career mode.. instead of actually getting a stable platform working. I'm assuming they are pretty capable programmers, Shouldn't take to long to write up a physics engine for Unity. Thats all I'm sayin. -

While agree I could minimize my building style.. whats the fun in that? Shoot you can get everywhere in the solar system on 100 parts.. but then what? the game is about BUILDING. And alot of people are using this arguement that "it needs to be optimized after everything is added in.. I'm assuming most of you that use that argument haven't seen a piece of code..ever.. Do you think that big games like Halo add in sounds textures guns, maps ships etc.. before they get the engine running smoothly on multiple cores? HA! not a chance.. Truth is there is a difference between "cleaning up code" and actually coding the engine to work on normal computers.
